Top Five Forbidden Watchtower Subjects
by metatron inif you are an 'old timer' and wonder why the watchtower and awake.
magazines are so bland and lacking in content, it may come as no surprize.
to you that it's often because a number of topics are 'off limits'.. that is, certain subjects are so troublesome to the watchtower leadership.

Hi Everyone!
by thepreacher ini just wanted to stop in and spread the good news.
you will find it in 1 corinthians 15.1-11, written under inspiration of the holy spirit and not the spirits directed (by alcoholic spirits) of the watchtower.
my wife and i just recently da'd and we forced their hand since they were avoiding us entirely, despite three years of inactivity, with no 'shepherding call' at all.

I think its just a difference in semantics IW, what you call "anointed with God's spirit" we call nut-jobs. Same thing really.

Lucky Charms, the forbidden fruit.
by kenpodragon inwhen i was a witness i remember one time being in the kingdom hall talking to a group and a little kid walked up with something his "worldly" grandmother gave him.
it was a rabbits foot on a key chain, a very well known symbol or good luck charm.
i remember the woman in the group kind of freaking out, and walking the child back to his parents and demanding that the demonized object be taken out of gods house.

Yeah, I mean the Rabbit didn't ...
Whats that?
Oh! ... Twice already?
I see... ahem!
Anyway, I always considered myself lucky so thats why I had to stop going to god's house &tm; in order to not defile it.

checks and balances
by teejay ini must've been in grade school when the idea of checks and balances made total sense to me.
recent events have made what i learned long ago an even more valid concept.. .
the u.s. government was initially founded on the principle that no one individual (or group) should be able to rule without any kind of impediment.

The best thing would be to make it equal for all. If that can't be done and tax must be imposed, why not affect those who have it to spare more than those that don't?
Yes, why not just redistribute all wealth. And how are we to determine what amount and to whom the money should go. Why is it even the government's right to take away money earned by people in the first place only to give it to others who make less. That doesn't seem equitable to me. The government is just made up of men and women like you and me, they don't have any "special powers" that are above our own to percieve what is right and wrong for us. And that was the point of the founding fathers, that government should be as limited as possible. The huge monstrosity of a bureaucracy that the U.S. government is today would make the founding fathers roll in their graves! Basically if anything the goal for our society should be for everyone to be self sufficient and not dependent on the government unless they have an extreme special need. For who are you to tell me that I make too much and should be forced to give you any of my money?
I'm not lashing out at you, just giving you my point of view.

My favorite (imaginary) British sitcom:
Bart: You're watching PBS?
Homer: Hey, I'm as surprised as you, but I stumbled across the most delicious British sitcom.
[the title of the show appears on the screen]
Bart: [reading it] "Do Shut Up"?
Homer: It's about a hard-drinking yet loving family of soccer hooligans. If they're not having a go with the birds, they're having a row with the wankers.
Bart: Cheeky.
% On screen, Eighties punk music plays as two brothers celebrate
% Christmas, hooligan-style.
Brother 1: Jolly sodding X-mas, major. [presents a bottle of beer] Choke on it! [whacks the other man over the head with it. Bart and Homer laugh]
Brother 2: Oh, crikey! You gave me a smash on the noggin last year.
[pulls out a crowbar, and the two begin to fight]
Mum: [walks into the room with a teapot of water] Not in my parlor, you don't. [throws the water on them]
Brother 2: Aw, me eyes!
Brother 1: Aw, I'm scalded, I am.
Homer: The mother's the voice of reason.
Bart: Here come the cricket bats.
[the two brothers advance on their mother]
Mum: You don't have the cobbles.
[suddenly, the show is interrupted by a man wearing a sweater]
Man: [chuckles] Classic. Not hard to see why it's England's longest-running series, and today, we're
showing all seven episodes. -

DESTROYED !
by Derrick inthe visiting co pointed out in his talk that "people who love to practice evil will be destroyed [very strong vocal emphasis on this word] !
" many of you insist he is referring to those whose only "sin" is not being a baptized jehovah's witness and their children.
after my experiences on the internet from ajwr to h2o to this forum, however, i'm beginning to appreciate that all is not "black" and "white" but many shades of gray, many hues of stunning colors, and a mixture.. why not use the words killed or executed to describe the fate of these evil people, i asked the co afterwards?

But the problem is that your witnesses have strayed so far from the original intent of just studying the bible as C.T. Russel first started the group, to becoming a full blown fundamentalist cult with a plethora of rules and regulations which add "the wisdom of men" to what is written in the bible.
