The problem is that they have made the publications and meetings so boring and repetative that most witnesses pretty much don't even know the "deep things" about their own doctrine so that when they slightly change things over time, the less astute, which are most of them, simply go along with the flow, not skipping a beat. That and the fact that the R7F pretty much think that the F&DS are infallable, even with proof otherwise, that they will just swallow any tripe that is handed down to them. Any explanation that they make for the eventual changing of these dates, and they will have to change something eventually, will be bought overwhelmingly, hook, line and sinker. Fortunately, they seem to have reached a critical mass of people who want others to think for them. The only thing that will bring down the organization is the children.

1914 and 1935 running out of time?
by Blueblades inthe teachings and practices of the society have changed greatly under five respective leaders.russell, (lets not forget barbour,he was the one who published the 1914 date in july 1877,in the book "three worlds, page 83.
" it has been a central teaching of the wt.society since then.
)rutherford, knorr, fred w.franz and now henschel.most wt.publications over 10 yrs.old are outdated and are no longer used.the beliefs that "prove"they are the only true religion are different from their beliefs of fifty yrs.ago.however,the truth will not and cannot change.do you think we can expect the dates 1914 and 1935 to change because of running out of time?i realize that in spite of the changes, they expect members to be in complete agreement with their teachings and to be in complete obedience to the organization.blueblades.

Yes very much so. I had never celebrated christmas and when I was a kid I hated going back to school after christmas break when everyone would say what neat stuff they got. My parents believed in NO gifts between November and December. To be quite honest the only time my family gave me gifts was on my parents anniversary. I see my little cousins growing up without christmas and it sadens me. My family is not giving at all and sees no need to buy presents. My family did not give presents all year and found it a chore to give us gifts on the one day they put aside. Maybe if I had grown up getting gifts I would not be so bitter about not getting a Christmas.
This is Scarlet I posted under my husband again damn it.

Number of 'Anointed' down to about 4000
by nicolaou inso i was at the 'memorial' last night (that's a whole other story) and i got into a converstaion with an elder afterwards.
i asked him why no figure had been printed in our kingdom ministry for the number of uk partakers last year.
(in 2000, the figure of 300 was given, down from 319 in 1999).

Nethinim are "other sheep" who basically take posts at bethel that give them a lot of authority, basically I think they have been running the show for the past 10-12 years, while still having the governing body facade. A couple of years ago the GB quit all of the business side posts they held and those were taken up by "other sheep" as well, I think, you may have to do some research on that one. I think its a long term strategy to transfer power to the less senile and de-emphasize the whole "anointed" doctrine. But it seems to me, and history backs this up, unless they have a strong leader, ruling by comittee eventually breaks down in chaos.

I think that by leaving the number out of print, it makes it more of an unsure thing with the R&F. That way it gets de-emphasized so they don't start wondering why the end isn't here when that number reaches close to 0. They also know that they can't be run by the loonys that claim to be anointed although young. Within a few years you won't even hear about this doctrine anymore, they might have a WT article that changes it.

Jesus would ride on some custom chopper and go around kicking everyone's ass.
Sounds like a good pilot for a syndicated drama, "Jesus: 2030"

The mother of all gripes
by kenpodragon ini personally feel that the single biggest problem in modern society, is the lack of taking personal responsibility for our own actions.
i think that as a culture we have allowed people the room to make excuse after excuse, and accept these as something that should be legit.
well w e see kids raised in families that love them, feed them, take care of them to the best of their means.

As a conservative I must agree with you too Robyn, in so much that this has to do with personal responsibility nad one's party affiliation has nothing to do with one's personal values.
However in defense of Francois, Republicans do say that part of their political platform is to stress personal responsibility in their policies and some of the largest contributors to the Democratic party are trial lawyers. Whether that pans out in reality is up to you and me to decide.
