Lonely newbie who is glad to be here

i was directed to this site by a very kind ex-witness who runs a christian ministry in california.

there are no words to express how thankful i am to be here.. here is what i hope (key word) will be an abbreviated version of my story: i am 35 years old, single, the only child of jw parents who had already spent over ten years in various watchtower capacities (two of those years as gilead missionaries in guatemala) before i was born.

my father was diagnosed with brain cancer when i was 11 and finally succumbed, after a valiant fight, when i was 14. among the first doubts or questions i remember having was how a god of 'love' could just passively ignore the persecution (malawi!!!

As an elder who HAS experience with mental illness, I went beyond the "study more pray more" routine since I KNEW IT NEVER HELPED ME WHEN I WAS A SANE ELDER, much less help others while going through periods of mental anguish. I am currently assisting a family who has a df'd son with a mental illness. The real sickos are the bastard elders who think they have KNOWLEDGE of mental illness.

Yes. Porn (apart from alcoholism) is a major problem at Bethel. The Bethel Elders were patient/loving with them and with their so called problem. It's easy...these Bethel Elders got all the freakin' time in the world to "help." A Bethel Elders responsibility was to look out after these ones. It's not like they "left work" to help out erring ones. All they had to do was to call you in to their office and go over some scriptures. Do they go out of their way??? Not really. They do this because oversight has asked them to handle it and to report back and to write you up.

Now. A congregation elder out here in the world does not have time to be patient and loving (well maybe some) but for the most part the elders are too busy. They will ask if you are "greedy" and slam their fists down and charge you with a crime. Sorry folks, no help for the greedy bastards.

that suggests many of those who were pushed out of wt headquarters will leave the wts and some may find their way here.. i hope that is what happens.. but i have a sinking feeling that the opposite might happen.

Many Bethelites who had tried to apply with their wife as a couple were shot down. Reasons: The wife was not "fit." Or: It was Bethel's chance to get rid of your hide.

One Bethelite who looked totally lost surprised the department when he came back from an Island and brought his GF for us to see. Everyone was like WTF? You fine but he is a dweeb. Low and behold, he applied and got shot down. So he appealed, not surprisingly, he got shot down again.

Another Bethelite was well liked, but he talked his mind a lot so when it came time to approve the application ... boo-ya! Se ya later.

The WTBTS has created something that is going to start to boil over. It will not bring the WTBTS down but it will make harden the iPubs mentality with regards to dissenters.

The WTBTS does not consider your feelings. They brush them aside telling you that it's Jehovah's will. Bastards.

I know this is slightly off topic but it does relate to the feelings of former bethelites and how they are treated.

i have lurked for quite some time.

many of my past thoughts have been funneled through one of your regulars due to my current situation.

however, my first post illustrates the type of increased activity i expect on this site and similar ones in the near future, as just a few former insiders become disgruntled and get involved.

I once had a small leak in my waterbed that made me so uncomfortable and kept me awake at nights because I had no idea from where it came. I knew that if I didn't find and close it soon, I would either have a huge mess on my hands or worse yet, drown myself.

I want to take a stab at it but I'll let someone else go first.

BTW: We were waiting when you would make your next post/comment ... or at least I was.

i see many threads about bethel paying out bethelites as they leave to keep in quiet - aka: hush money.

i don't believe it was hush $ in ray franz's case...it was more like "here is something for you to get started".

so i don't think anyone has been "paid.

i had a "discussion" with my wife today.

i stated that in the past you should never be alone with those of the opposite sex even if they were relatives because of the dangers of fornication etc.
