"He said he had never met a black man of his class in his small town." - This was said to him by a white man.
The British class system is infamous. You can determine if a person is upper, middle or working class by their accent, their occupation and where they live.
But how did this class system get into the U.S.A.? Can different races have different classes and how do you guys know if someone is your 'class'?
Where does Bill Cosbys Dr. Huxtable fit in? What about Everyone Hates Chris? My Name Is Earl? It's all very surprising and confusing.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses have to start over?
by DT in"and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.
" -matthew 24:14 what is the good news?
i used to think that it was that jesus became king in 1914 and that he would destroy this system before the generation that saw 1914 passed away.

Welcome DT and I have to laugh! That is a very good observation.
Of course you can apply the same reasoning to any one of a multitude of flip flops over 130 years. Belief in any of things could make you an apostate overnight.
JW's bear almost no resemblance to C T Russell's religion that was approved by God in 1919!
And to XOCO. You're correct. Nov 1995 I think. I showed this to two visiting elders in 2005 and they were completely oblivious to the change. -

Cheap housing, skifields, fishing, lakes and mountains and a major University.
A large English and Scottish community and Americans and Canadians are fairly common too.
Kingdom Halls near by so you can get to meetings! Ha!
Oh, and a couple of apostates to talk to in the bar.
If you know someone looking for a bit of an adventure you can pm me and I'll give you my e-mail

No Excuse to Shun Families - Almost Lost my Son Today
by Gretchen956 ini had such a shock today, its almost bizarre, my son was involved in an accident at work.
he's an ironwoker, which means he works the high steel on skyscrapers and such.
today he was working and tied his safety harness off to the cable as usual, and went to work.. lots of times they have to lean out and rely on that harness to keep them secure while they reach out to do whatever the hell it is they do (best mom's don't always know all), and today his dumbass bosses didn't have the cable attached on one end.

I had my heart in my mouth just reading your account! I'm so pleased he's O.K.
My eldest works around traffic with heavy machinery and sometimes I wish he didn't tell me what goes on.
Lady Liberty is right, your son is 'flucky' ;) -

Some interesting news....
by Faithful-n-Discreet Wife ini read in an old 1963 wt article that if one is living imorally....when they dedicated themselves to jehovah (privately/publicly)...that they will need to be "rebaptized" since jehovah may not have accepted the dedication...any chance i can ride this one?.....maybe get them to strip me of my title of a baptized jw allowing them to think i fully intend to be "rebaptized"...what do you guys think of this alternative to da/df?
i was baptized in march2007.
i heard that this article is not outdated and can still be valid.

Good things = Praise God, Bad things Diss Him.....
by LouBelle ini've got a "christian" friend - he's been having a hellofa time - his wife left him about 2 years ago, sued for custody, the wife gives him a hard time about seeing his kid and a whole lot of other things that i won't bore you with.. he know questions gods' existance, simply because god hasn't waved his wand and sorted out his problems.
he keeps quoting scripture and i keep telling him not to take everything so literally in the bible....he is cross with god and of course ranting and raving.. i keep trying to tell him that 1. sometimes nonsense does just happen and it has nothing to do with god.
2. if he truly were christian he would follow god simply so things can go well with him.

Yes Lou, I've found that people will praise God and condemn him arbitrarily.
The fact that good and bad things will happen to good and bad people indicates to me that God has little interest in getting involved.
We're on our own. -

Violent Kids: Stephen Kings comments---
by CaptainSchmideo ini found this speech he gave back in 1999. in it is his perspective on the school shootings, and the things that lead up to this.. i think its something that educators and parents need to read and ponder.. .

"I don't trust people who look back on high school with fondness; too many of them were part of the overclass, those who were taunters instead of tauntees."
I took particular note of his speech from this point. It's something I've observed myself.
Thanks for posting. -
