  What could they be wanting now?

  ok, so you know about my parents' and my email exchange.

  mom said come to meetings, i was genuine with her and told her why i don't, mom replies with denial of what she just read (like i am a confused baby), then i replied with an email that absolutely takes care of everything.

  from evolution vs creation, to the bible, to jehovah, and the wts.

  Your father is a bully. Your husband is able to put his professional life into perspective and deal with confrontation pragmatically. But its his father in laws' daughter he's emotionally involved with so....there's a whole other dynamic going on.
  
  In my experience, in order for your fathers personality to UNDERSTAND 'jam it up your arse (ass)' i have had a lot of success with being annoyingly passive. Don't turn up, be vague, don't reply to questions and laugh inappropriately.
  
  Failing that, 'phone the elders and tell them to get him off your back.

  i actually attended the bookstudy on friday, don't ask me why.

  anyway the revelation book is being considered and we're at the paragraph where the congregation in ephesus is comended for "not bearing bad men.." apostates.. .

  the comments from the ones attending were so baised and ignorant.

  I enjoyed reading your other two letters too Fats.
  
  The term 'mother' when referring to the WBTS didn't seem to get used down here but I've noticed various posters of a certain age say they used it. Was 'mother' widespread ? And how did this maternal term fit in within the context of a 'heavenly family'. I mean, I can understand 'heavenly father' or 'son'. The 'bride of Christ' But was 'mother' ever sanctioned by the Org. as acceptable Witness-speak?

  We used to bang on a lot about this subject in the '80s. The KoN was the godless communistic powers according to JW dogma. Now I can't get a sensible answer out of anyone about the new light if there is any.

  Bulletin Board versus Information Board

  does anyone know why the bulletin board at the back of most us kingdom halls is called an information board?

  i called it a bb once from the platform and was corrected.

  i've also heard the same from others.

  This is a question that comes up from time to time on JWD. I think the term 'bulletin board' is more commonly used in the US. Over here, (NZ) , we usually call it a notice board.
  
  You're right BP though, something about gnats and camels come to mind with these people.

  If someone with only two years secondary education and a mental illness can write a spoof like this, imagine the qualifications the writing staff at HQ must have!
  
  Funnily, I had to 'dumb down' some of the terms I found during research and put them into 'Witness-speak'. This letter could just as easily been posted under Bible Research and Study Articles but Humour is OK!

  I thought it was interesting that the early Protestant Puritans, the Quakers and 19th century Seventh Day Adventists reject the wedding ring as pagan. The JW's arbitrariness continues to amaze me.

  You're right Wozza. The letter seems entirely plausible and uses the same reasoning that would prevent a Witness from celebrating birthdays or toasting!--see WT Feb. 15th, 2007 for a real self-indictment.
