I was listening to 'Big Mouth Strikes Again' by The Smiths when I joined JWD. The Avatar is a drawing from The Bats (NZ) album cover 'Fear Of God'.
Unfortunately, some people have treated me as though I have an unthinking, unfeeling big mouth in real life. Not so.
And anyone who says so will get a smack on the nose!

My name... screen names and thier meanings
by Miss 8572 ina few days ago someone asked me what my name meant, 'miss 8572.
as an unabashed star trek fan i find all the references to the witnesses as "the borg" on this site really charming.
when coming up with my name i just thought "what is anti-borg?

After reading many topics.. I'm confused. Is this a JW forum or an ANTI-JW?
by MichaelM ini'm studying with a jehovah's witness and it makes quite a bit of sense but i've been reading many topics on here and it seems that i can find every christian denomination and every religion except jehovahs witnesses.
do any jw's actually browse here?
maybe i'm just getting unlucky and picking the wrong topics where everyones discussing about how they used to be jw's.

"Didn't jesus ask for his fathers help or guidance? "--That he did Michael.
The problem you will find is that the borg (you'll get that ;)) believes you should ask the Watchtower Publishing Company for guidance. The WT is believed to mediate between God and men, not Jesus. -

A recent Watchtower made it very clear that the Governing Body disapproves of anyone setting up a JW chat site.
The concern was that people may be tempted to discuss Theocratic things a bit too deeply and draw 'wrong' conclusions. -

I ponder on time with friends..

"When all the common factors that brought you together in the first place are no longer there the friendship sometimes dies a natural death. "
I was just considering this yesterday with my 15YO son. I was asking him if he spent time with his friend Ben at school now that he'd shifted house. 'No, I don't see him much' he said. After a couple of years the friendship had just faded away. No problem.
Can marriages just end like that? -

Hi Michael. Yes, there are a range of very diverse opinions here. A number are current Witnesses and even elders.
But a large number here have been very hurt by The Watchtower and many un-Christian policies. So you will find a lot of anti- Witness sentiment.
But please do spend a little more time reading here.
It MAY be the LAST CHANCE you get.

Speaking for myself, (and I suspect many others here), I put my whole future on hold because of armageddons imminence. I felt guilty for having kids so near the end. I turned down the chance to play football professionally. And I stopped doing a whole heap of things I really enjoyed.
And I am SO angry for being fooled. I gave up years of happiness for what I thought was something better and now I'm a grandfather!
I know dozens of dubs who regret never having children or putting off things because of a false hope. -

They mimic their god. They are pragmatic men. They will do what is required to keep running 'God's Business'.
Orators or businessmen they might be but they are not spiritual men anymore than Jehovah is a 'spiritual God'.
They are not bothered with personal happiness of others or piety or being nice, I just think they believe God's got a business to run.
However, I suspect God's busy doing other things.
