They are looking more and more like a corporation and less like a religion all the time. It would be great if there was a way we could show the average JW that their spitir apointed GB was nothing more that a band of puppets. With lawyers and business men pulling the strings trying to make a profit off the free labor of the "flock".

i can't say too much about myself because i'm still an active witness, though not by choice.. my marriage is in trouble and the one thing that causes it is being a member of jehovah's witnesses.. i was born and raised in the truth like so many others here.

Here is just a bit of what my wife sees but still insists she in in God's org.
This is all only with immediate family
1) My wife's son, about 7 at the time, was molested by a witness that we considered a friend. The boy came to us early one morning crying and saying he has done something bad. We got him to tell us, and convinced him it was not his fault. (It had been going on for a while). My father was/is an elder and they were having an elders meeting that morning. I put my wife and son in the car drove to the KH and just walked in and interrupted their meeting. I told them that out of respect to them and my wifes beliefs I would let them know first. I told them what had happened and that I was going to the police. (One older elder, who to this day I love, started crying. The others were just silent.) I also said that if I ever see the man he would be a dead man. It seemd to me that this bothered some of them more than my boy being molested. (I am no bad ass, but I am well skilled in the martial arts) I went to the police, went through the whole process, and they arrested the guy. The elders did their "investigation" , my father and another elder interragated the boy for two hours one night. It got to the point that I had to put a stop to it. My father had a fvested interest in this as the molester was my dad's "Son he never had", since I left to org. Two months later the molester was mad a MS. To this day my father has a picture of him and the molester in his house - and yes this does upset my boy. The dectctive told me to watch my back as they, the elders, were going to say that I made the boy say at and that I was the molester. Well three years later I was told that had happened. There is a lot of detail missing but you get the idea.
2) My wifes brother is a womanizer big time. She has said to me numerous times that she would not be suprised when he gets AIDS. He goes to bars to pick up women constantly. But he is still in good standing.
3) My wifes brother-in -law was accused of molisting tow witness girls when they spent the night whit his daughter. It was after a party where he had been drinking heavely. Well we tried to stick by him because he was not the first one that thei girls mother had accused of doing this, he was about the forth. Well about 5 years later my wife was at her sisters house and her brother-in-law was drinking and he starts hittying on my wife and at that moment she believe the two girls story, and told him so. Also her sister has almost left her husbane many times because of his drinking, the elders know of all this, yet he is in good standing.
There is more to all of these, yet that is enough to see the falsehood in this religion.
Truthseeker- it is possable to keep the marrage going and it may be hard at times, sometime people don't want to face the real truth as it means they will have to make a decission that is hard. Your wife says she "doesn't want to be as miserable as you". Well my wife says the same thing, only I wonder who is really more miserable? My misery comes from seeing people misled and lied to by a religion, hers comes from having to justify in her mind, all non JW do evil and no JW does evil, yet in her congragation and in her own family the oppeset is true. Yet she has to convince herself in her heart that all is ok becaues she is a JW.
Sorry this was so long.

Hi Turthseeker,
I know all too well where you are cominmg from. My wife is in and very active, I left about 15 years ago. She too says the things your wife has said to you, I let her down, I turned my back on God, all that stuff. Well I to love my wife so I keep working on the relationship. It not easy but it is worth it. There have been times when we came close to divorcing but it hasen't happened yet. One day I will post my"story", when I am able to do so emotionally.
If you love her, fight for her, but don't give up on your conscience.
I wish you all the best,
LOL

I've only been called on once, and that was when I first moved into my house about 13 years ago. Two men came to the door I let them give their litte talk, and then asked if they had their trinity pamphlet. They bith very proudly said yes and pulled it out of their bags. I aksed if they ahd studied the thing. They said Yes, so I said "did you look up all the quotations in there?" "Yes" they said. "Really, you looked up the Catholic Encyclopedia, the Anti-Nicne Fathers etc." "Oh no we don't need to as we have faithful men who know about this stuff, we just read the Bible quotes." So I said "Do you that when the bible sais to "Make the truth you own, you should do that, and that the Boreans were praised for not just believeing Paul but checking out what he said first" "Yes, and we have done that" "You have done that with this book" I asked. "No but in the past". I said "Ok but not with this book, fine. Would you be interested to read the Anti-Nicen Fathers since your book quoted from them? That was you can make the truth your own?" They said "We don't have a copy of that book in the library, but maybe next time we go to Brooklyn" I interupted and said "You don't have to go to brooklyn I have the 20 volume set here in my library along with a lot of the other books quoted from." They then got real antsy and said 'Is there a problem your trying to show us?" I said "That depends on your point of view, do you think God would lie to his chosen people?" The replied 'No, of course not" I said "Neither do I, but can you explain to me why are the vast majority of the quotes in this pamphlet are either taken out of context or are at least made to seem as though the writer said the opposite of what they intended?" Then they wanted to leave they said 'Why don't you contact WT headquartes and ask them these questions, they are the ones who would have those answers." I said "Because you are the ones knocking on my door trying to get me to joint your religion because your religion has all the answers and the truth. If you personally don't have the answers to these simple as yet non-doctronal questions then you should really re-evaluate why you are knocking on other peoples doors."
No they have never come back. However that may be due to my wife is an active JW and they now all know me.
I always treat them with respect and kindness, and always show love to them. I was missled at one time also. (there are a few that I will always hate, but that is for another thread when I am ready to put it in writing) I have been approached a few times on the street by ones who don't know me and I always listen but kindly refuse their offer. When I do this I say 'I believe your theology is flawed" That has not yet faild to start a conversation in which I will take the simplest teaching and distroy it but in a loving and gentle way, always remembering I am distroying their faith. I realize it could hurt them in the short term but it is better for them in the long term.

A little help please:

I put this in another thread but I would like to start a new one.
I was a JW when I got married but I left about15 years ago, my wife is still in. Before we met she had a relationship (while she was a witness) with a guy and even had a child with him. (She did not get df’ed for this.) When my wife and I were dating we talked about sex, our likes and dislikes etc. She told me that she loved oral sex and was looking forward to marriage so she could do it with me. She said she tried anal sex but did not care for it, but she would try it with me if I wanted. This was good news to me.
While trying to be good JW’s we had a study with an elder and his wife and a week before our wedding he wanted to study a WT article about marriage and sex in the marriage bed. I believe it was from 1985. Of course oral and anal sex was forbidden. On our wedding night my wife then tells me that she will not have oral or anal sex, because the WT said it was wrong. I know sex is not everything and I do love my wife. But it is a source of contention between us. So i could really use your help.
Have there been any changes to this policy? I know they have been back and forth on this many times, but what is their current teaching. Please any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

How Would You Explain The Stupidity Of The Blood Doctrine?
by minimus init seems like the witnesses are going to be told that they they now can take blood---at least some of it!
i asked my mom a few minutes ago if she would take blood fractions and she said "no!".
i gave her a head's up on what to expect from the new km.

Minimus has a point here, but let's reverse it. Let them explain it to us. Is there a single question that we can put to them that will make them see the stupidity of this whole thing?
I'm not sure if this would work but here goes.
"If it is ok to take every fraction of blood when they are broken down to their smallest parts, why can you not take the blood when it is not seperated? What is the difference? - I know that's two questions.

Seven Trumpets of Revelation
by Zico ini read on here that the society teaches that the seven trumpets of revelation are representative of seven conventions held in america in the 1920. is this actually true?
is it old light?
i asked some witnesses but they all gave me a look like i was weird and said it couldn't be right, and i can't check the watchtower library as i can't get it on my computer (apparently the society doesn't think mac users are worthy of the 'good news') i mean... it would be a bit...odd, wouldn't it?

Also I'm not sure if I remember this correctly, but did not some of the "trumpet blasts" refer to things that they have since changed even before the Revelation book was printed? I seem to remember something about the elder arrangement being one of the "blasts" but has since been changed. Any help here?
