The bible clearly states somewhere in there that we dont need all of our limbs... something about tripping over your hand sucks, so if that should be happening to you just bust out your machete and chop that sucka right off.

"Why Won't God Heal Amputees?"
by scout575 in"according to believers, god is answering millions of their prayers every day.
prayer seems to be especially powerful in the medical arena - god eliminates cancers, kills viruses, reverses the efffects of poisons, heals internal organs, repairs injuries etc.".
the above quote is taken from an ex-christian website.

by booker-t inone of my best friends in the world pam who is a non-judgmental born-again christians told me that she thinks that we are only "pawns" in a chess game played by jehovah and satan.
at first i thought pam was joking with me but she told me she was serious as a heart attack.

Yo. My wife is doing a report on religion and has to do an interview with a person of that faith. We are cheating and pretending I'm a person from work who is a JW. I'm trying to explain the five different meetings but I don't know what magical book they are studying for the book study. Any help would be appreciated.

Attacking Satan by drawing scary pictures
by hallelujah in.
i was watching pictures of the stampedes at the haj and it occurred to me that throwing stones at the pillar of satan was a really ineffective way of dealing with evil in the world.
it occurs to me that drawing scary pictures of satan in the watchtower is similarly ineffective in combating evil.. any thoughts?

Re-instatement - How long ex - elders?
by CaptK ini am a white male and was d'fed in late 2000. i started attending the sunday talk and wt for the last two years.
my old congregation was merged into a new congregation following the years that i was gone (downsizing yes) with now all the elders are another race than myself.
i wrote a re-instatement letter in mid dec...which the elders never answered till mid jan... for a committee hearing.

I was disfellowshipped for about three years. You have to play your cards right. Remember: There is no holy spirit on these dudes. (regardless of whether or not there is any holy ghost anywhere else - ask scooby doo, maybe he knows) I did a bunch of "naughty" things for those three years, then I went to about 5 meetings, sneaking out early and such, wrote a big long "repentant" letter telling them of my naughty stuff and how I -ahem- overcame them. How I used to have a "bad attitude" and how I have overcome it, and so on. They met with me two weeks later, reinstated me one week after that. Now, I am NOT a believer, and I wasn't at the time I was reinstated, but I can be a convincing sob. My cousin on the other hand, a real believer, disfellowshipped for loose conduct, extremely repentant, never missed a meeting, prayed all the time...took him a year of constant letter writing/ass kissing, etc. It very much depends on the elders personal feelings and your ability to bullshit. what is your rush anyway?

Who is more powerful? the convincer or threatener?
by DavidChristopher inis it the guy who has a gun to somebodies head trying to force them to do what he wants, or the guy who convinces him to put away the gun?
who is the most powerful of the two?
can being curious outweigh the desire to control, threaten, and punish others?

Who is more powerful?
1. define power.
2. define the objective
If using a threat is the only way to convince someone then a good convincer will have recognized this. It may just depend on how much convincing is needed. Also, for a threat to get the proper result it has to be believed to be real (convincing).

What's so bad about Satan?
by robhic inwhy is satan supposed to be so bad?
he gets the blame, sure, but what does he explicitly do?
that god had?

He's a convenient scapegoat for those who don't want to accept responsibility for their adverse actions - including "God".

Here's an example that shocked me - I used to feel physically sick watching any kind of violence - so much so that I couldn't watch boxing on TV - after years of playing utterly violent PC games I found myself watching a boxing match without any feelings of sickness - in fact I was actually getting quite involved in the fight - I changed, I think because I exposed myself to lots of brainwashing stuff.
That is more along the lines of being de-sensitized. Changing your views is not necessarily being brainwashed. For instance, someone who is appalled by the idea of changing a dirty diaper has a kid and learns to get over it. They usually do get over it too. (not in all cases of course) That doesn't mean they've been brainwashed. They just deal with things differently than they used to.
