  with all the control they want to have over people's lives, i wonder if going brazilian down there (male or female) would be cause for readjustment???

  lol i can see sister a telling the elders on sister b ... lol... i wonder what scriptures they would use to make their point across ... i know that for non-jw this would sound totally crazy but as an ex-jw i know that this is totally possible ....

  We are in for a blizzard!

  the winter storm watch has just been upgraded to a blizzard watch.

  from where i sit, just outside of boston, it looks like up to 2 feet of snow from friday to saturday with high winds that will make travel very difficult if not impossible.. .

  a cult has a way of ensnaring its members with promises of spiritual freedom, the seductions of power and charisma, and in some cases, just the sheer influence gained by tapping into the fears, biases and bigotry of potential recruits.

  scientology has used those many tools in attracting followers, as has every cult from jim jones with his peoples temple mass suicide tragedy in jonestown, guyana; david koresh and the branch davidians of waco notoriety, warren jeffs of the fundamentalist church of jesus christ of the latter-day saints and its polygamous sexual abuses; right up to the westboro baptist church and their pervasive and media-savvy mission statement of hate and bigotry.. while its one thing for adults to be ensnared, willingly or otherwise, its another for the children of cult members to be held captive simply for being unfortunate enough to be raised by a cult member.

  Bipolar Landlady kicks me out!

  fun times.. a year and a month have passed since i moved in to the house where my cousin deb and her husband bobby live.. i had a small but comfortable room, tv, etc.. a nice cozy family situation, you might say....right?.

  i pay $600 a month to defray expenses.. hunky dory.. sure.

  until the first few eruptions!.

  Help!!!

  i have come here for any advice and support that anyone can give and i really need it now.

  i don't talk about these issues with my siblings anymore because they have already told me that they have no advice and can't help.

  feelings of anxiety have been overwhelming me the lat 2 years and it makes me feel like a scared little child.

  Breathe. Start with Steve Hassan's books. You can work with your children, all of them. To plant seeds and to question them. You may lose the oldest one, for a while. Do everything in person with the kids, with only you there. You are also an authority figure to them, and they need your opinion. but, you have to carefully craft it so they don't see you as Satan.

  Another rumor about changes in Watchtower and Awake

  it's only a rumor.

  but we all know that sometimes rumors become a reality.. supposedly the public watchtower and awake magazines will be combined together and the two shall become one.. i wonder if the present 16 page "rags" are becoming an embarrassment.

  they truly are rags of the lowest quality..

  I don't understand why they had a Watchtower and an Awake magazine. Ain't no one read them, but JWs.

  What the Governing Body needs to do is to have one magazine. They should name it J.C. (For Jehovah's Channell) In every issue, the first article is about the Governing Body as Jehovah's Channel. The second article is about OBEYING Jehovah's Channel. The third article is the consequences of not obeying Jehovah's Channel - the Judicial Committee (another JC)/ The final article is a sob story about some poor kid in a third worldl country who gave all of his money over to Jehovah's Channel or an old American who gave his house to Jehovah's Channel (instead of his worldly kids).

  Think about it. Isn't that the theme of every Watchtower as it is now?

  Do You Appreciate The Service Of Our Military?

  being raised a jehovah's witness, i did not have any appreciation for the military or for veterans.. now, when i see a military person, especially in uniform, i am grateful for their work as well as the fact that they risk their lives for us.. do you appreciate our men and women of the military?.

  im amazed how going witnessing sisters who knew me for decades would sit only in the back seat on the way to the hall...to avoid any sex at the traffic lights!!!

  and chaperons 1840's style are needed because two witnesses alone for 10 minutes would go at it like animals even after all the training watchtower articles and talks being jahs clean org.

  Mormons shun, and shun severely. Look at the ex-Mormon community. Alot like us here. Broken families.

  Mormons are under alot of control. Alot like JWs.

  Exiting Mormons & exiting JWs make up a very large group of people needing help from the International Cultic Studies.
