Do you make your own soup?
by compound complex ingreetings, soup lovers:.
i have a huge kitchen at my disposal (not my own); vegetables, cans of this and that and spices are scattered about, prepared to go into a cauldron of minestrone i started a few days ago.
i'm preparing ahead so as to freeze the leftovers to heat up later at home over my hotplate.. nothing like a 6-burner gas range to simmer over!.

Yes, I love zuchini soup, lentil soup, vegatable soup, tomato soup, vegan chile, everything!
I make my own soup becuase I am sensitive to MSG. Progresso & Campbells contain MSG. Most canned soups do. And, they taste wierd.

The epitome of narcissism
by Separation of Powers inthere are several disturbing things that were said in the latest annual meeting.
one of the most disturbing was a comment made by david splane.
he made reference to how the clergy "howled" when the first new world bible translation committee produced the first nwt.

Splane's comment is illogical. It is pure circular reasoning. "Annoited" status is something that is made up by the WTS. So, proving that something by the WTS is more correct becuase it originates from the WTS elites is nonsense, it's circular. It isn't outside verification of the quality.
Splane's comment also reminds me of another saying, "With the confidence that only ignorance can give."
This is part of why the WTS doesn't want people to attend college. Philosphy & Critical Thinking was a mandatory class for every one of the 25,000 students in the big school I attended for my undergraduate. This class taught all sorts of fallacies in arguments.
You can't fix stupid, but you can watch it within the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Troubled Mind, Your light show is awesome. Love that used Michael Jackson's Thriller. So, how did you do this? What do you use to synch the lights with the music?

Did You Ever Wonder What Goes Thru People's Heads When They Realized You Were A Witness?
by minimus inlooking back at it, they must of thought we were really weird!.
funny story: yesterday i had to pick up meds for my mom and when they asked her date of birth, i couldn't remember!
the cvs druggist looked at me in a strange way until i mentioned, "sorry, but i was raised a jehovah's witness and i never celebrated her birthday".. she laughed, asked for my id, then whispered what her birth date was.. you gotta wonder what they must be thinking!.

OMG, I was asked to speak to a large crowd about my experience as a JW. As I was talking, I became like a 3rd person listening to my story. Then, I thought to myself, "These people must think I'm a nutcase." So, I finished up and alot of people came to talk with me after. They said they thought I was a survivor and a strong person. That made me feel better.

Okay, it's a Gray (even more simplified) Bible- Moving Along

A Bible is the biggesst thing they offer. It gets the most donations, perhaps along with the CDs. So, getting millions of JDubs to buy a new Bible is a win-win for the WTS. Make a few changes and, most definately, change the outside color. Why change the outside cover? Well, who in their right mind would walk into a KH with a non-grey (old, outdated, old light) Bible. That, just wouldn't be Kosher.

1984 Bible release vs. now
by rebel8 inin 1984 a revised nwt was released.. i lived in jw fundieland at the time and i believe thats the year i got baptized.
this was the tail end of the great apostasy scare and a great gearing up for armageddon because we were told, in print, that it would come in the 20th century.
we were positively whipped up into a fervor.

That's a great narrative. I enjoyed it. I wish you and your family the very best (if I am allowed to use the word "wish")

OK - I've had it - My letter to the KH
by LisaRose inthe whole time i lived in colorado, i had the dubs come by once and leave a tract.
but since moving to california, they are at my door so often i asked them to put me on the "do not call" list.
this did not stop them, in fact i have asked four times, plus once i called the kingdom hall and left a message, they still come, the last time this past saturday.

I absolutely love your letter.
My only comment - add blood issue, if that affects your personally. In the 60's, little blood was accepted. Blood was to be poured out onto the ground and never used again. Well, all of that has changed. Hemoglobin (the oxygen carrying component), specifically banned until 2005, is now allowed. In fact, all "fractions" of blood are accepted. So much is accepted, that it would make a whole unit of blood if added back together. But, you read in the news that individual JWs are still refusing blood becuase they believe the Society that it is sacred.
