so i have decided to jump in and for the first time and share some of my random memories that seem to have been floating around my mind more and more lately.
mostly if all the weird anxiety i experience from time to time is related to it.
i guess that would be a different topic to post!.

My bet, is that there is something more going on than just the JWs. Watchtower literature does not encourage underaged to leave their parents, even if they are not JWs.
My first reaction is I wonder if there is a JW man who is "smitten" with her. Somehow, he is enouraging her to run away from her parents (with him). There are JW pedophiles, duh...
My second reaction is that this teenager is a little offbalanced. SHe is revolting against her parents, and the JW "talk" against goats (those opposed to the JWs) has gotten to her head? I knew many JWs who took what the Society said to the extreme, and not in moderation or with thought on how to apply it to their circumstances. She seems to be idealistic, and this is what is probably driving her to the JWs and against her parents.
Her parents need a lot of help. If they are reading this, start with a call to Steve Hassan.

glad to be a new member and find others with similarities of background.
some background info on me: my dad became jw when i was young, so i spent maybe a third of my life in the religion.
although i respect everyone's beliefs, i personally knew many genuinely selfless people in my congregation, but the way i was raised, now that i am an adult i am realizing was very sheltered and unrealistic.
Welcome. I also have a stunted relationship with my JW dad. Part JW to blame.
so.... i went out all day today... just wanted to get away from the sh!tstorm that was created yesterday.
anyways... i come home like an hour ago, and my dad told me that mom called my aunties in central america and told them stuff about me, and also she told the elders of her hall... the elders want to meet with me, but i think that it will be at my house.
i am curious about your ideas about:.
I thought my "reasonable" youngerish (50's) JW relatives would listen to me. Nope. They got hostile and defended the WTS. People have to come to their own understanding on this matter. Like you, I had dreams of opening their eyes to this cult. In my instance, it backfired becuase they are all secretly very jealous of me and used my "coming out" as a reason to put Skeeter down. I completed university and have a career, married, kids. They didn't. JW parents preached heavily against marraige, and they bought the whole "let this system go by the wayside, and the next life will be perfect." I am living the "sinning" lifestyle and am happy, while they are miserable JWs. I'm not trying to be above them in this post. I feel very sad for them, but there is no helping them without them wanting to help themselve.s
I'd just say to the others, "I write you becuase I admire your level headedness and practicality in all things, including the Truth. Through my personal study hour each week, I have developed differences in the fundamental teachings of the governing body, both past & present. I'm not going to approach you with my concerns. However, I know that many remain in the Truth and tout alignment with the Governing Body for fear of being disfellowshipped and losing their family ties. If you have differences, I will never shun you if you want to talk with me about them. I remain open minded, and will not divulge anything you tell me to others. Not even under the guise of theocratic lying."
would love to hear comments on what is being said on the paragraph which states that if the wt demands you drink the kool aid, you should do it - even if you don't understand why!.
.
look forward to any replies..

Breathe? Right now, concentrate on staying calm through all of this. Your family is going hysterical. That's to be expected. They believe in all of this, and all of a sudden (to them) you don't. So, this is like her heart has been torn out. Many women talk to relieve stress. They are communcators, and this is big news to her and she needs help processing the information, verifying her correct JW position, etc. So, she's going to reach out to other JWs, who are going to say encouraging things to her. Let her go through this emotional time. She may calm down in a few days or weeks. Until she's calm, you can't even begin to reason with her. Some JWs, you can never reason on JW things.
Right now, you need to process things with her. Block the elders out of your life at this time. Tell the elders that you are having mental health anguish right now. The elders will likely relay this to your mom, which will give her something more tangible to worry about. And, an excuse to get back on the phone with all those relatives for a plausible, save-face excuse for your behavior. After all, she probably knows more than a few JWs with mental health anguish.
Don't do mass e-mails. Emails are terrible at relaying most of your communcation methods. Tone is lost in an e-mail. Your voice is lost in an e-mail. And, the ability to see/respond with what others think.

in the video clip dennis meets kim jong-eun shows him a display of his vodka and introduces the two teams at the basketball match.. its unclear in the video whether rodman is offering a gift to jong-eun or is selling his vodka to nk.
if he's selling it - its a violation of us.
law.
Dennis Rodman is in a mental hospital. Now, can he stay there indefinately?

I was listening to Dr. Radio. A lady mortician was on. It was morbid, but wanted to share what she said. She also shared some of the laws that regulate the mortician practice. I was not able to listen to the whole program.
The open casket/embalmning a body funeral is a US/Canada thing. It isn't worldwide! (Guess I'm a dumb American cuz I didn't know that). It started in the Civil War. The train conductors wouldn't transport a dead soldier back up north. So, embalming became the norm. To embalm, a complete bloodletting is done. If the body had an autopsy, then it takes alot longer becuase things were severed. Then, a solution is put in. This solution keeps the natural bacteria from eating its way out of the body, by fixing the cell's protiens. This embalming takes 4 to 8+ hours, depending on the size, condition of the body.
The cremation. Super hot oven. Takes an hour or two for the body to burn. Depends on the size. What is left is inorganic bone matter. By law, these bones have to be ground to a fluffy white powder. The mortician is not allowed to give you the real "bones" by law.
Hindu funerals are not allowed in the US. These funerals are an open air burning of the body, with the bone fragments sent down a river. This has meaning of how the soul is transported to the next life/heavens. It struck me as odd that our laws forbid this practice! Hindu's are disenfranchised. I guess it would be strange to see a body burning up on a hill, but I'd think that there would be a discreet place where this could be done throughout the US!
Natural burial, without embalming. Cloth around the body and put in a deep grave. How it's done in many other parts of the world for centuries. Allows the body to return to earth the most naturally. Your bacteria live on. Alot cheaper, but can't be done in many places! She was saying that in many places, you have to own 5+ acres and then have to check your state/local ordinances.
I was for cremation. Definately, not for embalming. I'll have to explore this more.

anyone here being forced to go to the int dc in sea.
it is july 4-6 at university of wa stadium.
my wife unfortunately just booked airfare to sea yesterday.
Seattle has alot of sightseeing. I'd totally ditch the convention! Seattle & I connected a long time ago.
Mount Rainier - Paradise lodge Alot of hiking and early july is just glorious. Glaciers, meadows, a real trip to Paradise. As close as it gets. A must see for JWs & ex-JWs.
Mount St. Helens - Proof that earthquakes & pestalences are close. This is the MUST SEE. It will blow your mind. A must see for JWs & ex-JWs.
Olympic Penninsula - Hurricane Ridge. Look at the internet for pictures. Like "A Sound of Music"! Then, there is a beautiful rain forrest on the other side of the park. Spectacular beaches. Driftwood on Steroids!
Downtown Seattle - Fish Markets, people watching, ferris wheel, cruise ships going to Alaska. Just a neat place.
Rent a car. But, rent it just outside the airport. Take a $30 cab ride to the rental place. You can return the rental to the airport. You will save a bundle that way.
Totally go! But, totally ditch the convention.
