Morbid curiosity, rubber necking, whatever you call it. They show it again and again because people watch and the advertisers make money.

NBC News shows no integrity
by M.J. ini'm pretty upset after watching the crap on msnbc last night.. they kept milking the story about their package from that psycho, constantly flashing his photos and videos on the screen--just the way he envisioned it.. repeatedly the psychological experts they interviewed told them that this course of action would only serve to encourage others.. meanwhile they interview the president of nbc news, who talked about the "careful" consideration about what to do with the contents of the package, deciding to "immediately" turn it over to investigators.
(but apparantly not until they copied some of the videos and photos).. for their rationale on their decision to air these materials, all they could offer was, "if we didn't do it, some tabloid would have done it".
they were the only ones that got the stuff!.

Gun control logic
by Gregor inthe v tech shooter bought his guns legally.
gun control laws don't stop this kind of determined killer anywhere in the world.
the defenseless victims couldn't carry a gun legally on campus if they had one.

Hmmmm I heard that on the Stephanie Miller show today. I'd like to see the results if they tried that in Los Angeles or Chicago.

Is there a station that in the same position, would have done different? I haven't watched the news from the moment I found out what they had. Any news. It's all about money, and banking on the idea that our fear and horror will compel us to watch.

I don't have time to read through all the posts on this thread right now, but I have a question, and I apologize if it's been addressed above. VA apparently does not have a waiting period. The dude at the store where at least one gun was purchased said he looked at 3 forms of ID making sure that whatzhisface was a VA resident, and he called the police for some quick check they do. After everything we now know about this guy, doesn't it seem probable that if they had a waiting period, and a more thorough background check, he never would have been able to make his deadly purchase? The police were called on this guy at least 3 times over the last 2 years. He spent time in a mental ward after one of them. A couselor and police suggested at that time that he be involuntarily committed!!!!!!!!
If any one of those other students had had a gun, yea more lives may have been saved in this incident. But what about all the incidents that would be happening because every loose canon dumb fuck out there would have a gun in his pocket?

The Watchtower After Hours: Phone Sex!?
by Anitar inwell, it's good to know what the watchtower's priorities are these days.
they're facing dwindling numbers in the industrialized nations, a growing number of child abuse lawsuits, a pedophile database of over 23,000 members just waiting to be exposed, and what do they have on the front page of their website?
phone sex!!.

It's hard to not be "suggestive" when you need to discuss birth control methods and the like before you get married.
Well daniel, just be careful you don't do it over the phone.

How come you guys weren't this interesting when I was here a few months ago? Just Kiddin'!
Bellini "Casta Diva" from Norma. Pachelbels Canon......oh my gosh. Mascagni Cavalleria rusticana "Intermezzo" .........where's the tissue?. Puccini "O mio babbino caro" from Gianni Schicchi. Also Puccini "Che gelida manina" from La Boheme. Mozart "Che soave zeffiretto" from The Marriage of Figaro. Almost anything from Tchaikovsky, Griegs Piano Concerto, many pieces by Mendelssohn...................never mind. It all makes my soul ache.
I have often wondered though, how much of this would feel if interpreted by say, Jimmy Page or Carlos Santana.........

THE WAY IN IS THE WAY OUT
by Terry ini got in officially in november of 1963 when i was baptised at the cleburne, texas assembly.
judicial committee cut me loose.. the way in consisted of having jehovah's witnesses demonstrate to me that there was considerable false information and hypocricy in christendom.
i lost confidence in what i had been told, taught and believed.. today, i believe that is also the way out of jehovah's witnesses!.

Is it any wonder so many of us have emotional issues? We were "no part of this world", and we were continually falling short of being good enough for that world.
As always Terry, you make me exercise my brain. You're the intellectual personal trainer.

What's The Worst Personality Trait Or Negative Quality A Person Can Have???
by minimus ini can put up with a lot of things.
but i avoid people who are "users".
you know the type....always taking, never giving, always looking to take advantage of someone......and i don't like liars all that much either.

Me personally, it's LIARS. There is no point in a conversation with a known liar. It's all fluff, you may as well not even waste breath talking to them. It's emptiness. Extremely difficult when it's someone you would like to love. A family member, or someone you thought was a good friend.
xjwms, I might put STUPID as a close second. I would only make it aggressively stupid. People who don't have a clue what's up, but plow right on over all in front of them. GDubya comes right to mind............

The plagiarism suit was brought on by the authors of "Holy Blood, Holy Grail". A work of non-fiction. I'd read that many years ago, fun interesting, exciting conspiracy theory stuff. Totally lost steam halfway through. "The Da Vinci Code" was an exciting thriller, based on an idea that's been kicking around for a long time.
Jehovah told me it was a good read. So I did. It was.
