  When did we stop being customers and start being consumers?

  i really hate the word "consumer" - i see it all the time, in reports, business news, the markets.. consumers aren't consuming, they aren't spending.. a consumer sounds like some brainless automaton whose sole purpose is, well, to consume.

  in the old days we were customers who made purchases - now we just consume.. does anyone else feel the same way?.

  What about "customer service"? Anyone notice that sales people have no use for you. Actually we are really putting a crimp in their style. It didn't used to be like that, there used to be competition for our business.

  A question for the women...

  ok so here is the deal, i'm only 23 and get my period maybe once every three months, normally i feel really sick before i get it for example this time i felt really dizzy for about three days and felt like i was going to vomit all weekend, i just got my period today after 3/4 months.

  i'm wondering if i'm the only one on here that is so irregular and how normal/abnormal something like this is for someone my age.. .

  I always thought I was coming down with the flu. Dizzy and nauseous, clammy and weak, but I was also very regular. Go to the doc. It's so much better to share the worry with someone who has the answers :-)

  recently one of my brothers sons who is a 22 yr old jw mentioned to me rather excitedly that he just got back from ozzfest 2007, telling me him and his gf who is also a jw (elders daughter) rocked to bands such as "ozzie ozbourne" "lamb of god" "three inches of blood" and "static x" to name a few.

  i was astounded by his "revelation" that he and his gf among many other younger jw kids attended this event with jw parental consent.

  i remember when i was growing up around the jw religion even mentioning the name of ozzie ozbourne was reason for a trip to the back room for a "talk" with the elders.

  So I was reading the "Bro Prince" thread, and one thing led to another. I found myself on the official JW website. I haven't actually read anything "official" for years. I couldn't help myself, I kept reading and reading........................and now I feel soooo.........light...........HEADED!!!!

  Honestly, I'm exhausted. I feel as though I was fending off mind bullets !

  does doing what is right in god's eyes mean we have to use only bible terms?

  i know the organization is not perfect.

  is there strong evidence that he has his people here on earth that although not perfect, are doing his will?

  But I see that only those who do things "just right" like I have for most of my life and who didn't happen to get royally messed up by abusive parents, elders or extended family, etc. are the only ones living this "happy life". Others are outsiders.

  I don't come here as often as maybe I should. I don't have time to read all the posts in a long thread such as this one. I don't know folks as well as I would like to. But this is me OM, and if you ever doubt your doubt, remember this.
