a university of arizona engineering team led by roger angel has designed a new type of solar concentrator that uses half the area of solar (pv) cells used by other optical devices and delivers a light output/concentration that is over 1000 times more concentrated before it even hits the cells.
this comes as a result of a broader goal to make solar energy cost competitive with fossil fuels (target = 1$/w) without the need for government subsidization.. .

The German government has been subsiding installation, and has legislated the selling back of excess power to the energy company. In 10 years they had 1% of energy usage coming from solar. In less than 1 year they were up to 2%. They are currently cutting back subdidies because it was so popular there is now concern for the aging grid and surges of excess during sunny periods.

by brotherdan inso this weekend my wife had a major grand mal seizure for the first time in her life.
she was rushed to the er.
a few hours later while i was at her side she had another major one.. it was the scariest moment in my life.

Again Germany is way ahead. And they are not a particularly sunny country. I have to assume it's because they have little oil industry working against the sustainable energy market.

Pretty much what a I have now. I'd add all my family living closer, and my kids perpetually kids. Oh and Pizza, donuts, wine and bacon are not only good for you but make you skinny.

(there are only nine such meteorites on planet earth.
