  Was Jesus predestined to die?

  according to wts, the first prophecy in the bible (gen 3:15) applies to jesus and was partially fulfilled when the he died on the cross stake.

  so how did jesus or anyone that had anything to do with his death have any freewill if he was predestined to die?

  say the jews had decided they kinda liked him or thought he was at least entertaining and decided to let him hang around?

  The reason it doesn't make sense to you and me is because it was written by men that had a very spiteful vengeful character to their culture. They literally believed that they were God's gift to the earth and that they had to kill everybody out of Canaan including women and children.

  In reality the US is not interested in a moral or ethical stance, their interest is in world domination of resources. An Iran with nukes probably puts paid to that dream.
  Also if they were ethical about nukes they would never have given the Israelis nuke technology.

  A muslim said to me that many muslims consider it a privilege to die at the hadj. It's usually the older people that have this wish. I don't know what the official view is. And I don't know if people go there secretly wishing to get trampled to death.

  I never understood the ransom story. It smacks of the man made urge to pay up for something. I think you are right, "I forgive you" would have suffice, considering God is meant to be all loving, which of itself is a contradiction because if your read the OT, you'll see that Jehovah might as well be beelzebab.

  I remember being told by a JW that had the Jews accepted Christ His kingdom would have started in jerusalem 2000 years ago and he would have stuck around long enough for his kingdom to be established. That implies that he wasn't predestined to die and we would never have been born.
  But then again giving up his body at the end of his mission could have sufficed as a ransom.

  i'm re-reading 1984 and the similarities between the wtbs and the "party" astound me, but anyway, it made me think of the time when i started to get doubts (thoughtcrime).. i remember once at this book study a sister commented about the 1914 and was reciting it's historical accuracy.

  anyway, she went on to mention that the demons were probably learning everything about biblical prophecies from the wtbs.

  i was 13 at the time but the comment made me cringe, i was thinking "why would superior beings need humans to interpret the bible for them?

  I think I had enough of their pretend christian love and I actually wanted to be more worldly. I wanted girlfriends and possibly sex. When I found better more interesting friends at college I never looked back but at the back of my mind always worried that I would burn.
