We have the NT and the apocrypha, ancient texts that tell a story of the early christians. Why is any of this less believable regarding the existence of the central character, Jesus, than the characters of Josephus? How many of Josephus's characters are corroberated in the secular way that is expected of Jesus?
Does Jesus require a higher standard of evidence considering the claims that have been made about him? -

What intrigued me was how the text kept refering to apostates. That is an interesting play on psychology against the R&F. Basically don't listen to the alternative view as they from THOSE apostates which Jehovah will destroy.
Looking through all the dates and their significance or lack thereof, again at some point the bible associates the name, Jehovah with death, destruction and killing of people. Does this not disturb these, love thy neighbour, Christians enough to research into the nature of this jewish God? He sounds so pagan-like.
I really can't get my head round this dichotomy. -

I'm very sorry to read how your early life turned out. But I tell you I was soooooo impresssed when I read that you got up, left, came to the UK did a degree and got on with your life. That shows someone with focus, determination and strength of character!!! I think understanding that about yourself, you will realise that you have the capability of making good decisions as to what do next. You've seen all the bad ways of doing things from your early family life don't let this knock your confidence by remembering it on an emotional reactionary level but try and think of it as, I have such a wealth of information of what mistakes not to do.
