MEETINGS--Elders in Court of Inquiry Question 1916
Question(1916) "Is it proper for the elders to sit at a court of inquiry and cite any supposed to be walking in a disorderly manner to appear before them and explain their conduct? Or should the Lord's advice given in Matthew 18:15-18 be followed?" Answer: "I agree with the suggestion of the question that it should be handled in harmony with the Lord's direction in the passage cited. The Lord's word does not authorize any court of the Elders, or anyone else, to become busybodies. This would be going back to the practices of the Dark Ages during the inquisition; and woud be showing the same spirit as did the inquisitors......We should have confidence in the Lord."
What Pastor Russell Said P 479
why is it ok to celebrate a wedding anniversary but not a birthday?
i can understand christmas, easter, halloween and valentines day but birthdays, thanksgiving, mother's day and father's day don't have religious or murderous origins.
also, at the last supper, jesus told his disciples to "keep doing this in remembrance of me".
......"the "two hopes" doctrine is one of the most basic, important teachings of the WTS....it is a primary basis for their control system, as they teach that the vast majority of JWs cannot approach Christ directly but through the mediation of their organization because they are not Christians under the New Covenant. Whether or not you care for the New Covenant, the system of control is something to care about. And since the "two hopes" notion, resting as it does on the interpretation of the 144,000 and the "Great Crowd" of Revelation, is a major justification for this control." http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/96705/1.ashx

can some1 explain to me what does the laodicean messenger mean?.
Revelation 1:16 - "And he had in his right hand, seven stars; and out of his mouth went a sharp , two-edged sword; and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength."
"The seven stars are the angels of each church period, one each. The seventh church period is Laodicea and Pastor Russell was the angel or messenger to Laodicea, the last period of the church. Each messenger brought news or light to his period of the church. That is why one should read the writings of Pastor Russell, NOT any other writings claiming to be new light, such as the JW's."

this seems to be jw belief, and only because rutherford said so in a talk, are there any publications that actually say that heavens doors were closed in 1935 ???
and any kind of references ???.
with the annoited class (pre 1935) getting smaller and smaller, i think in about 50 years the watchtower will have 144,000 replacements, how will they rectify this goof ???.
THE 144,000 FROM THE TWELVE TRIBES OF ISRAEL http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/96705/1.ashx
"The 144,000 are mentioned in just two passages in Revelation: the vision-audition in 7:1-8 and the vision in 14:1-5. The first text is followed by a vision of a "great multitude which no man could number" (7:9-17), and the mention of both groups together forms a literary diptych: First of all, note the scene here. The 144,000 are on earth. These are individuals who need protective sealing and until they are all sealed, the angels "whose duty was to devastate land and sea" had to wait before unleashing their fury on the earth. The 144,000 would not need protection (further evidence will be considered below that the sealing is protective) unless they were in actual peril on the earth."

i hestitated to write this on xmas day and i hate to get anyone down, but i hope you understand and maybe send prayers my way.. .
dear friends i don't know how to even put my pain in words, or my great loss.
Dede, someone said that only time will heal this. I don't believe that's true. Time cannot heal. It can dull, but not heal. What will heal is her resurrection in the Kingdom and then your pain will turn to joy. For now, she sleeps. You will need rest yourself. This might help.
i just joined this forum and while reading old entries came across the following question from may/05: "do you miss feeling that jehovah was listening to your prayers?
" that question and the responses gave me the courage to ask the above question.
about 3 years ago, 5 publishers, including me, were disfellowshipped after jehovah led us to speak up to our elders regarding their inconsiderate treatment of victims who came to them for help.
Welcome to the newbies. Something to keep in mind is that not everyone left Babylon in 537 BC, or whenever it was, even though they may have wanted to go. It was a long and difficult trip. Many stayed behind for a variety of reasons that didn't dishonor God.
that's correct two jovie elders in suits stopped by my house last night at 5:00pm.
i know both of them well and dislike both of them equally.
what could have been going through their minds?
Twas the day before Christmas and all thru the house,
not a spirit was glowing, not even a grouse.
When what to my wondering ears did hear,
but the front door bell and two JW Eldeers.
With bookbags so full, as they acted with pride
they said I'd been missing and wanted inside.
I said I was busy and couldn't comply
as I knew they had come for an unannounced spy.
They left in a huff when they couldn't come in
but I knew they wouldn't be dissuaded from uncovering sin.
And I heard them exclaim as they walked out of sight
Come to the hall next Tuesday night.
i'm really glad i've found this site a week ago.
reading some of the stories and comments on here has really helped.
there are so many out there who's lives have been ruined by the so-called truth.. i was brought up in the truth as an elders daughter, youngest of 5, a brother and sister had been disfellowshiped, other brother had left as a teenager and my other sister is still sitting on the fence aged 40 going on 15, if she'd made a decision instead of sitting on the fence i'm convinced she wouldn't be the alcoholic mess she is today!

"The primary reason for this debate over whether or not Lincoln was a man of faith can be summed up in two words: William Herndon. Herndon was Lincoln's young law partner while Lincoln lived in Springfield. He shared a law office with Lincoln for many years. To make a long story short, Herndon wrote a biography of Lincoln many years after Lincoln was assassinated, and in it he proclaimed Lincoln an "infidel."
There is little doubt that Lincoln, as a young man, went through a period of doubt as to the validity of Christianity. But he changed. (Herndon could never understand this.) There is some debate as to when this change took place, and to what extent it went. His wife said that he "was never a technical Christian." But what she meant about "technical" Christian is in doubt. In that day, "born again" was not a commonly used, or understood, phrase. It is likely she found his relationship with God lacking due to his reluctance to join any specific church.
It is true that Lincoln never did join a church, although he attended church services regularly while President. The reason he gave for never joining a church was that he could never be satisfied with all the dogmas and creeds that the denominational churches of his day required. On this subject Lincoln wrote:
"When any church will inscribe over its altar, as its sole qualification for membership, the Savior's condensed statement of the substance of both law and Gospel, 'Thou shalt love the lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and thy neighbor as thyself' that church will I join with all my heart and all my soul."
One of Lincoln's earliest statements on the subject of his faith came in 1846:
merry christmas everyone!
and thanks for always answering my numerous and sometimes repetitive questions.
carla
And a Happy Winter Solstice.
