OK believers, time to put up or shut up...
by Gregor inapparently, a large percentage of xjw's who post on this site have embraced some other form of god/jesus belief to replace the wt doctrine.
most of them fall into the "i accept the lord jesus christ as my personal savior" class.
they are still extremely attached to the old "forgiveness of sin through the shed blood of jc" line.

Apparently, a large percentage of XJW's who post on this site have embraced some other form of God/Jesus belief to replace the WT doctrine. Most of them fall into the "I accept the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior" class. They are still extremely attached to the old "forgiveness of sin through the shed blood of JC" line. You might as well be Catholics, all catch phrases, ritualism and symbolism. Whatever. It's always easier to let others spoon feed you the big answers to "What's it all about?"
Don't you get it?? It's ALL bullshit. What's the deal? You have to 'taper' off from your bullshit addiction? All you have to defend your "belief" is vague stuff like, "How could a banana have just evolved?" or some other trite crap.
But here's your achilles heel. Since you still cling to your UFO believers level mentality that there is some superior, grand force to help you deal with the fact that life is tough , why can't you or JW's or Baptists or Catholics...ad infinitum, answer one question (and answer it clearly and simply, not so involved that by the time your through we have forgot the question)
Why does "god" permit evil, wickedness and tragic misfortune??
An 18 mo. old baby toddles into the back yard, sees a pretty leaf in a 5 gal. bucket, reaches for it, tumbles in and drowns in 4 inches of water. If you were GOD you could have stopped it easily without revealing you wonderfulness to anybody.
A plane full of good people runs over a small piece of metal as it takes off puncturing the tire which sends debris into the fuel tank. The planes crashes and they all die.
It goes on and on...and on and on...
Lest you think I'm 'angry' with god let me assure you I am no more angry with god than I am angry with the cupboard door I left open and cracked my head on.
But back to the question framed above. Come on, let's have an answer that holds some logical water.

SoL,
Have you lost all perspective? You have, apparently, freed yourself from religous victimization by the JW org. and you have shared this with us the last several days. Yet your response to the deaths of these children, who could not possibly be anything but little Catholics due to their entire world being Catholic, is very cold hearted and cynical. Have you become what you hate????

Daniel Book
by 5thGeneration inmy super zealous father told me the other day how he just "loved" studying the daniel book for the second time.
he got "so much more out of it this time".
holy crap, give me a break!.

I've been out of touch for about 25 years. Is there a new Daniel book? I remember the light green/chartreuse "Your Will Be Done on Earth" book from the early sixties. I can't imagine they would bring that out again since everything in it has already been discredited by history since.

What was your Favourite/Worse time and day to go in the Field Service?
by JH ini never went out in the field service on the week-ends.
i did't want to meet too many people afterall !!!.
so, i went out in the field service only during the week, and only in the morning, knowing that not many would answer, because people were either at school, or at work.

I NEVER enjoyed field service. When very young my Grandfather would take me downtown to stand on the sidewalk with a canvas "Watchtower & Awake!" bag around my neck. I guess I sort of enjoyed that, but for other reasons than preaching the Good News.
The WORST was a toss up between the (worldly) Memorial day invasion of the cemetary to approach people visiting the graves of loved ones... "Ahem, Hello, did you know that you could see your loved ones again on a Paradise earth?" Even as an elder I avoided this unless I was really put on the spot, like a CO visit. Either that or summertime, pre-bookstudy, door to door calls.
Once a real asshole CO insisted a group of about six of us make some "blitzkreig" calls in a private, posted "No Solicitors allowed" neighborhood. As soon as the first call was made the householder got on the phone to the neighbors and a couple of guys confronted us and it got pretty ugly. I wanted to crawl under a rock and the CO made it worse by standing there arguing with them with an arrogant smirk on his face.

JW,s Best Dressed People !!
by moomanchu ini thought of all the money i saved on not buying all the meeting clothes for my family, and it got me wondering about the reason why jw,s need to dress up for everything they do.
i think it must have all started because russell had that clothing store and this was a good way for him to have a cornered market.

I've seen situations where pubs were confronted about anything that could be interpreted as a "showy display of ones means of life". Clothes, cars, jewelry, etc. This was a nice catch-all scripture for the envious under-acheivers of which there was always an abundance. There seemed to be a reverse snob factor. Those with cars & clothes that looked the cheapest actually had more status. Of course, when their old jalopy need work, they were more than happy to take advantage of the poor auto mechanic brothers free work. The old saying "Small people have small ways" held true.

tired of not existing
by BlackSwan of Memphis inok, sorry about this but i'm in tears and just need to absolutely vent..... i am so tired of being invisible, of not existing to people that have said they love me, to people who i've known for years.. i had to find out from the stupid newspaper that a family friend died from her battle w/ breast cancer.. just this week i finally get in contact with someone who had stopped going to the meetings 10 years ago and now that she's back... guess what ... that's right ... i hate this religion.
yes i am depressed today.
everything a person has built in a life time is just ripped away.

We can relate, Black Swan. You have to remember that this will pass, life is good.
Suggestion that might help and can't hurt. Pick up an inexpensive bouquet at the supermart and take it to a convalescent hospital. Spend a few minutes and chat with some of the old folks, if the weathers nice you'll probably find some of them setting outside. It's amazing how positive these old folks attitudes can be and it really does lift the spirits. No shunning either!
Anyway, best to you.

Good on ya, mate!
It's like when you spend weeks, days, and finally hours dreading a dental or medical procedure and then... its over! You walk out feeling like a big, heavy bag of sand has been lifted off your back.
Enjoy the fresh air, smell the flowers, feel the warm sun, it's all good. Hope you and the wife can work it out if that's in cards.
Your brother,
G

I got shunned today...
by lucifer inactually i get shunned just about every day at work.
there are at least three or four witnesses that work with me and know me, but they shun me everyday( one of them saw me on this site lol) well i am sick of it, so starting today i am going to speak very loudly to them in front of people.
i wonder what they'll do....any suggestions of what to say, just quick lines because they tend to walk away as quickly as possible

This is something I have experienced also. I put workplace shunning in two catagories. One is what I would call pro-active, hateful, shunning. They want you to know they despise you, and they do it within the confines of the workplace requirements. In other words, if they have to interact with you for job related reasons, they will do it as coldly as possible. I would give it back to them in kind. Example: If we were in a group "water cooler" or break room environment I would bring up to a neutral party about being bothered by JW's calling over the weekend. Then elaborate on how this group has been predicting the end of the world for the last hundred years and has had to keep bumping up the 'end' because they can't seem to get it right. etc etc. In other words RIDICULE their dumbass, cult religion right in their face. I would also call them on the carpet in front of a superior if they did anything that could be construed as interfering with job performance, i.e. poor communication or rudeness, especially if it was in front of a customer. Go for the throat, it's all they understand.
The other catagory are those who are shy and uncomfortable about being around you because they really don't feel comfortable in shunning someone but don't know how to do it. With these people I would kill them with kindness and warmth. Make them as uncomfortable as possible by not giving them any reason to be a stiff. This actually gives you a big leg up on them.
