  Ron Frye's book on Elder Confidentiality

  i'm still making my way through what is an excellent book by ron frye, former jw and c.o.

  i found one of his comments interesting.

  on page 68 he speaks affectionately of his wife mavis.... "i especially depended on her because she was observant and discerning.

  Never. This quote from Rons book does not indicate the nature of the things he confided in his wife. If it was a judicial matter involving a cong. members misconduct then he was wrong to discuss it with her. Period. End of discussion. If he couldn't arrive at a decision without input from his wife he didn't belong in the position.

  I know Ron and have the greatest admiration of his dedication and ability. I can't believe he would share committee matters with his wife. Was he possibly referring to more general org. matters?

  i see serious problems with the leadership of the witnesses on two important levels: locally, in smaller bodies of elders with marginally qualified men carrying heavier workloads, and internationally in a lackluster and unimaginative governing body.

  there are no nathan knorrs, or fred or ray franz's in this pathetic group!

  I consider this topic thread to be the very essence of what this site is all about. I think when you read between the lines of what is going on with the WTS you may be looking at the beginning of the end. From the withering Governing Body of a multi-million dollar organization that lacks a pool of young, sharp CEO/CFO/COO's types to take the helm with some very cynical business/doctrinal savvy (that would be a rare combination of skills) down to grass roots elders to keep the proletariat in line with their eyes glazed over.

  Combine the above with the ticking clock, lawsuits, money problems and the decline in growth and you begin to see their current resurrection of the "armageddon is any minute now" tactic as a desperation move. I am encouraged.

  How many times can you get your "second wind"? They are way overdrawn.

  the wife and i went to see this film today.

  wow it blew me away.

  it was a combination of apocalyptic futurism, a chase film, a love story, classic mythos, a contemporary political allegory with a taste of theism all in one.

  WTS Has Lost +35% of Elders in US Since 1994????

  zack, on another thread, said he heard this figure from the platform at both the 2006 elders' school and his recent pioneer school:.

  that there were 93,000 elders in 1994, and less than 60,000 today, in the united states.. i thought these figures deserved their own thread, as they are shocking to me, and to see if anyone else has heard anything similar.. i'll post a link to the other thread as well.

  I clearly remember the WTS gloating over the drastic drop in new blood joining the Catholic priesthood. This was 25-30 years ago.

  It must be "Global Warming"

  snow in malibu yesterday.

  .

  this morning i had to scrape the ice off my windshield and back window.. on the way to work i saw many a frozen front lawn and most cars were covered with ice like mine.. all on the outskirts of los angeles.. it must be "global warming".. warlock.

  Global warming trend? quite possible. But it is the WHY that is the issue. The earth has been through many temp cycles, maybe we are in one now. I don't jump to the conclusion that it has been brought on by human activity. That would make me a victim of political manipulation by a very cynical movement.

  Ever see that old movie where the white hunters are about to be burned at the stake by the savages. One of them has an almanac that shows there is to be a solar eclipse that day. They use this to convince the natives that they have God-like power. Similar to the lefty movement today trying to exploit possible warming for their political ends. It will probably just go away. These cycles in nature take decades+ to develop.

  How did you hide things?

  for those of you who had some evil in you, how did you hide the things that you didn't want your parents or fellow jws to find?.

  i used to hide porn magazines under the carpet in my bedroom, and i had a gutted vcr that i used to hide my rap tapes (along with other things i can't remember).

  When I had teens at home I would carefully hide my little bit of ganja in a small jar with a buckle down lid. This was kept in the toe of a pair of hiking boots in the closet. Problem was that somehow mice must figured out where it was and learned to open the jar, take a small pinch and put everything back.

  The Scent of a Woman!!!!

  your intentions are good - entirely manly.

  you step into the shower intent on grabbing a skin-drying manly soap - dial or zest or similar.. then it catches your eye - that little 'womanly scented' bath-bar.

  you try and reach past it - to get the large man-size bar on the soap tray - but inexplicably you pick up the lady's perfumey soap.

  Since the kids are all gone I have my own bathroom. No more getting into a shower that looks like a drug store. Fussy little razors, loofas, several flavors of shampoo, conditioner, soaps, wash cloths, shower caps, a couple pair of panty hose hanging on the shower head. Never realized what a luxury it was. When I have to give it up for overnight guests I truly feel the hardship.
