i am not trying to minimize the pain and difficulties of leaving the scam (being fortunate never to have belonged to it, in the first place), but i would like to ask people a question.
have you thought that, if you leave, your friends and family have someone out there who really understands them and could be there for you?.
on the one hand, your family and friends will shun you, that's for sure.
When it comes to influencing others there is a real difference between "leaving" and being kicked out. These days, the way a DF'ing is announced leaves it open for speculation that you might be anything from an apostate to an armed robber.
The ideal 'leaving' (wish I'd done it this way) is to write a concise DA letter packed full of vitamins and minerals. Send it to the the elders and also to every member of the congregation who you feel might read it.
This could be of great influence on some.

Why take a chance? Stick with Jehovah's organization so you will survive Armageddon and live forever on a paradise earth. It's a no brainer. Literally.

anyone who deeply believes in a "free press" is very naive in my opinion.
for example, consider how stories about scandal suddenly appear out of nowhere after candidates actually start running.
i am also aware of how surprizing revelations appear in european newspapers about figures in the us - while little or nothing is reported in the american press.

when i first read over this on msnbc news today, it was truly morbid of just one soldier to do something like this.. but to think that 12 are being implicated tells you how truly sick a lot in the u.s. forces are.. what is the difference between what they did and what hitlers soldiers did?.

Just a note about the Geneva Conventions that the US tries to comply with. These so called 'rules of war' were written with the scenario in mind of one nation at war with another.
What do the uniforms and flags look like for:

Al Queda
Hamas
Hezbollah
That's right, they don't have any. They are terrorists, guerillas, suicide recruiters, and religous fanatics. But they are armed and financed as well or better than many soveriegn nations. Their tactics include hiding in the skirts of women and children. Our soldiers are the best in the world but some are unable to deal with this kind of warfare by the rule book. If a true murderer in a US uniform is found committing a war crime he or she is prosecuted to the full extent of harsh military justice.

If these atrocities we indeed committed, you can be sure that the American military will come down on these guys like a ton of bricks. It has happened many times before.
Keep in mind that some of the accusations are not true. Let's give our soldiers the benefit of a trial before we go all hysterical.

hello fellow movie lovers.. i finally got a dvd player and am excited about watching newer films, though i have a huge vhs collection.
i rented saving private ryan and it froze where john miller died in the presence of james ryan, miller's exhorting ryan to "earn it.".
the dvd is old and scratched.
Some DVD players are more sensitive to scratches than others. Try a different player if one is available. Don't overlook your computor player if it has one. If you rent from a store ask them to let you visually inspect the disc first.

I'm with TEC on this one. This is a heartbreaking tragedy, end of story.
The ability of JW's to interpret (read "spin") this type of unforseen occurance to their own ends is nothing short of heartless. I could site many examples. Just one being the account of a person who was killed by a stray bullet during the Watts riots. It was a meeting night and they were not at the KH. etc etc
