  a couple of months ago i attended a funeral with my wife at the local kingdom hall for my uncle.

  its the 1st funeral i've been to and 1st kingdom hall in 5 years.

  i was a jw for 17 years and now i'm a chrisitan.

  One of the points you mentioned touched a nerve with me. That being the mockery made of Christs sacrifice. I've always thought that if I was Jehovah and sent my most precious son to die for all of mankind, I would be bitterly disappointed, even cheated, if only 6 million of my children were saved. According to Ted Jaracz its more like 1.2 million that are worthy.

  It's as if the doctrine believed by JW's is like the views of Nazi's. They are the chosen and the rest of humanity are just vermin to be exterminated. This superior view pervades every aspect of their lives from birth to death. Once again my sincerest condolences.

  as you all know, back in december the us bethel families were told of a major downsizing.

  As you all know, back in December the US Bethel families were told of a major downsizing. The word was, "If you've been thinking of leaving, now is a good time." Some three months later the pink slips are being given out. Three in my hall are being, the official word is, "reassigned home."

  What a load of euphemistic crap! Why can't it just be admitted that like all corporations, you're downsizing. Reassigned home? Please!!! I'm going to reassign myself another martini.

  The only upside of all of this is that thousands of Bethelites that used to look down on everyone who wasn't perfect are going to get a taste of what life is like for the R&F.

  i have been living in my new house since november.

  i have been home every weekend, saturday and sunday mornings.

  i live in a big city, in a densely housed area.. there has not been a single jw door-knocker this entire time!!!!

  The worst is the institutional atmosphere of fear. Inordinate fear of God, ones fellowman even one's family. As well as the false sense of superiority that poisons every relationship big or small. In short, being unchristian.

  i found the "blood" letter read at the service meeting last week a little laughable, especially the part about getting a good health insuarance policy.

How out of touch can the writers of this letter be? How does a whole generation of self employed janitors and window washers find good health insurance. Most bros I've spoken to don't even have a chickenshit health insurance policy let alone a good one. In New York, even a BS HMO costs about $1500 a month. Guess they'll have to miss a few more meetings to pay for that.

  Wouldn't it be interesting if someone refused a blood transfusion and then died because they couldn't afford bloodless care or it was "out of network?" Would they be martyrs for the cause or just unable to pay? Leave it to someone living in an ivory tower to come up with such a crock of shit!

  Sorry all you Aussies out there. Alas I freely admit I was wrong as I sip a Victorian 03 by Greenpoint. Delicious. I guess that proves that change is inevitable. What I find really interesting however is that I enjoy contemplating spiritual things while I pour a glass, fill the CD player and hit "shuffle." Much, much more so than when I go to the meeting and have my intelligence insulted while being told what a dirtbag I am. With that in mind, is there a connection between Shiraz and spirituality?
