almost every non born-in jw that i know tells the same story of how they found "the truth".
and it goes like this: i didn't know anything about the bible before becoming a jw.

Yes that's a great line OUTLAW. In retrospect it's in the same league as "I've tried a lot of other washing powders but Jehovah beats the lot of them" or "I've researched a lot of cat foods, but Jehovah came out tops." They're just cheap slogans, with the added insult of turning the word "truth" into a platitude.

i have been coming to this site to read news and your stories for about a year now, but have never posted due to my mortal fear of somehow being found out... i have family in as most of you do, who are all very sincerely convinced that they are on the path of light.. i have never been happy with the beliefs, mainly the doublespeak on the status of women, the hypocrisy, the dramatisation of the smallest of matters, and the general guilt trip that was my life until i stumbled across some hard evidence that my suspicions about 'gods channel' were well founded.
unfortunately i am now addicted to turning over every piece of information i can find, there seems to be no end to the amount of $#*& below the surface.
i will probably remain in this state for awhile, hungrily devouring all the information that makes me feel validated for my stand against much of the mindless rubbish that has gone around me during my life as a jw.

i can't remember if it was discussed here, but michael porter, a witness in good standing in london, england, pled guilty to being a pedophile and was originally given a conditional sentence which outraged many.. anyway, his leniant sentence was just overturned, and it looks like he better not drop the soap in the communial shower for the next 18 months: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7094591.stm.

This is great news, although certainly he should have got a longer sentence. Also the judge who let him off a few months back might benefit from a Community Rehabilitation Order himself.

Sex appeal is what counts, and you can get that in a thin, overweight, plain or pretty woman. It transcends.
Having said that I don't think it's great if you have to roll her in flour to find the wet patch.

Iam not a jehovahs witness…….i wanna be one and i will..let me just say thus, blood is sacred and i do believe persnally that blood transfusion are wrong and may even lead to what they try to prevent death. With the increase of tatoos, viruses ect blood transfusion are extremly dangerous and need much consideration. Most person from what i have read fer death… prolonging life is stupid………… if u so much believein god let him do his work if a person is meant to die the will not even blood transfusion can sve them.. i wish pplz would leave the jehovah witness organization alone and quit trying to prolong live u cant live this life for ever so stop fearing the unknown .build a bridge and get over it..death is normal if u are perfect which u are not u must die. it is in dying that u are born to etenal life according to catholics so see death as a positive………. why prolong life in these current conditions..death is must!!!!!!!!!

i am talking about 'regular stalkers' who stalk you for the obsessive psychological reason of needing to be near you physically.. ever been followed?.

Strangely enough this happened to my sister several years ago. She was convinced there was a prowler/peeping Tom in her back garden (US yard), so one night my brother in law hid in the shed and waited. A guy turned up in the garden and my BIL jumped him and gave him a good kicking . The twist was that the guy turned out to be a policeman, who insisted he was on a stake out to catch burglars in the area. Next thing my BIL (a JW lol) was packing it beacuse he thought he was going to be done for using excessive force in a citizens arrest. But no, the police didn't charge him and the copper was suspended, apparently because he wasn't on duty at the time.
