Sudden family interest in our reasons why we are no longer JW's ...

i'm curious, just recently it seems that our family are intent on 'reasoning' or 'finding out' why we are no longer interested in being a jw.

what seems strange is how we have been approached by relatives here and overseas with such a small time frame - which leads us to believe that there must be some impetous for this suddent 'interest' in us and our choice, which we made over 10 years ago ... is it just us or does anyone out there know something, we suspect that something was raised at the recent district conventions, perhaps 'new light'!

we are tempted to let them know the full reasons, but (ofcourse) we fear that this will lead to an allegaton of apostacy and our df'g... .

This is what they actually should be doing! When I stopped going to the KH I was really surprised no one came and asked me why. It helped me with the closure process because I realised these people had absolutely no interest in me. Or is it because the prodigal son had to come back by his own decision?

im looking for your help with an issue.

although im agnostic and not a bible believer, im currently having regular visits/discussions with a couple of jw elders.

im fully aware of the jw doctrine that christ is a created being and im familiar with scriptural texts and the reasoning they use in support of that claim.

The JWs use a translation which is simply erroneous. There are plenty of comments about this on the web, eg http://www.letusreason.org/JW38.htm

How can you trust what "Bible Students" say when they have tampered with a book which contains a warning not to tamper with it !?

Well done for coming to this forum, and if you reach a point where you need to get rid of them just tell them you've been talking to people on this forum LOL.

obviously some of you have been responsible for converting people to the jw religion.

now that youve left, do you ever feel responsible for these people in any way?

theres no reason why you should i suppose but im interested from a human angle.

JWFacts yes you'd think it would be not too hard to get the transfusion death numbers via medical record data bases. The memorial on the ajwrb.org is very very poignant.

hi everyone, i am supposed to meet with an elder tonight.

i met several times with him before going over questions (my mother thinks he will restore my evil thinking).

anyway we have already gone over all of the basics (1874,1914,607 no answer for this one, the un and everything else).

Welcome third eye. By the way, talking of other cults, does anyone have the link or the name for the splinter group of JWs who believe that the WTS will be destroyed by God? I read their stuff some time ago; they questioned all the times of tribulation pointers saying it was yet to start.

i don't think anyone has mentioned this before but the liu institute for global issues which is part of the university of british columbia have finalised a detailed report on the the prevalance of wars and all its aspects.the facts show that wars are rarer and fewer and we are safer now than we were 100 years ago.

Now that you’ve left, do you ever feel responsible for these people in any way? There’s no reason why you should I suppose but I’m interested from a human angle. Maybe bonds don’t necessarily stay between the witness and the witness who first got him into it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to pinpoint a guilt thing here, but I wonder if anyone has ever felt that they should or could “save” someone who they once, ironically, thought they were saving?

By the way sorry if this theme has been done, I’m new here.
