What happened to the United Nations being the eighth world power springing from the seventh. Don't they teach that any more.
Certainly calling Britain part of a world power is a joke. We are billions of pounds in debt, and we import much more than we export.
can someone tell the wts/jw's how utterly counter productive & cruel shunning is?.
apart from serious crimes where a person might conscientiously have nothing to do with a friend/relative, people who are struggling with any kind of issues generally need love, support & kindness.. shunning is unnecessary, evil & humiliating.. does the punishment really fit the crime?
someone caves into the 'sins of the flesh' so they are cut off from all human contact with everyone they know?.
They won't get rid of something that works well for them.
In most cases it stops the sheep from mixing with someone who has rejected the org. for whatever reason. Clearly the society do not care two hoots about human rights. The shunning is actually blackmail. They are saying providing you do exactly as we say, you can come back.
Blackmail pure and simple.

When they talk about apostates and opposers a person needs to look at what is being said by them and decide if it is the truth or lies.
That is the test. Not just to label someone because they do not agree with you.
When an unbiased person reads what an opposer said, it is likely they will agree with it, as all the opposer did was expose something wrong in the organisation.

Joe there is a pdf available on line for the truth book, but it is the revised version where they get rid of their mistakes. You may be able to get the original from Amazon or ebay.
As far as 1975 goes, their is a mountain of info available. Just type in Watchtower 1975 and it will keep you occupied for weeks going through all the stuff the society said about it.

many of you are collectors of the older literature especially.
i have been involved for 50 years with wtb&ts and have 4 generations prior to me involved.
i started collecting the literature and releases log ago and always viewed it as a hobby.
I don't think the society would be bothered with someone just having old literature. I imagine there must be loads of older books still in their library at Bethel
They would only become interested if someone was harping back to old ideas the society had years ago. If the individual started telling other witnesses about it, they would be accused of causing divisions. Then if they carried on doing it they would be disfellowshipped for going against 'God's organisation'

It can say all good people will go to heaven, or good people will live on earth. It can say God is a trinity or God is not a trinity.
There is a literal hellfire or not a literal hellfire.
We live in the last days or we don't live in the last days.
The bible has many contradictions or the bible does not have contradictions.
Anyway you get the idea.

my guess would be the early 2000's.
I think it is very true that the society will never again see the increases of the 1970s. The internet has made sure of that by informing all new ones what to expect when they join and if they want to leave.
However the society is still increasing in numbers, which can be seen in the baptism figures which were up on the previous year by around 6%.
But many of those new ones leave, so the actual increase hovers around 2-3%.
Certainly it seems to take a lot more hours to convert one person to baptism than it used to.

scan your bible and you probably won't find the term spirit-directed.
i searched for that term online and could not find a dictionary that defines it.
I believe that when they say the governing body is spirit directed, it simply means that they (supposedly) base all they say on the bible that was written by inspired men. That's how they can say it is spirit directed. It is also the reason that they make so many errors, because if they interprate something wrong, it just means they are relying more on their own understanding rather than using the bible to decide something.
It would be interesting to ask them if they feel anyone else could be spirit directed!
