Wow that is good. A smart JW. They are indeed a rare breed. I can only assume he must have put by money from his green handshakes as his monthly allowance from the society would soon have gone.

The real reason allegations of child abuse among JW's are not reported
by jeremiah18:5-10 inthis is my opinion, i don't have official quotes or official instructions to back this up.
what i have is real life experience of having been an elder that was involved in investigating an allegation of child abuse, why we didn't report, why we didn't encourage the parents to report.. its simple really, the main reason elders don't report is concern that they may lose their position in the congregation.
if you in any way "run ahead" of the society, you will be perceived as proud and arrogant and will be deleted!

Thanks to both of you for giving these accounts. You know the sickening thing is that if a JW reads this they will just say more lies. Unfortunately your stories are just two of thousands and we can only hope that this destructive sect gets its comeuppance very soon as I'm sure it will.

I think anyone who attends a sales meeting will have the same expierence. Be friendly, show interest in the punter, write down details about them so it helps next time you meet. Tell the punter about others in their area who have accepted the offer. Change the offer if original offer is not working.

What piece of WT literature is worth holding onto, or have you kept? Why?
by losingit ini have basically thrown away all of my bound volumes and loose wt and awake magazines.
i kept some bpoks, the insight to the scriptures, god's love, the reasoning book, and daniel's prophecies (this was my favorite) .
i held onto insight to the scriptures after reading some of ray franz's book, crisis of conscience.

For me it was the Revelation book. I was a book study conductor and as I was going through the book with the sheep I was realizing there really was so much in there that was complete rubbish. Beginning of the end for me.

Any fallout from the "human apostates" convention talk yet?
by cedars inhi folks.
i'm just curious as to whether anyone is experiencing any repercussions following the "human apostates" talk on the saturday of the district convention?.
my relatives will be attending soon, which makes me anxious.

Hi Cedars I wrote somewhere recently that my JW son and his wife have moved out of the house I rent them and moved into private renting where they are paying 75% more rent. Has a lot to do with not having to rely on me to provide them with housing. It started when I tried to talk to them about the July 2013 new light Watchtower. After they here the talk they will be convinced they did the right thing moving out lol

Why do some of the YouTube video creators remind current Jws that they should not be,..
by notjustyet in....watching their videos?.
i am a subscriber to quite a few of the ex jw youtube channels and i enjoy many of the videos.
i do cringe a bit when i hear the person in the video remind the jw that they "should not be watching these videos as it is against the rules and council of the wtbts, gb, elders taking the lead, etc,..".

I think it is a valid point that we don't want to be reminding them that they should not be watching the video. Instead maybe tell them you appreciate them taking the time to view the video and hope it will help them to make a decision on their future.

Oblivious to Father's Day
by Nosferatu inhey all, it's been a long time since i posted here.
life's been having its ups and downs, but that's a subject for another day.. anyway, this year i thought it would actually be nice to spend father's day with my kid.
his mom usually has him for sundays and for past father's days, i didn't mind because he was still kinda too young to realize what the day was about.

To be honest as a loving dad you dont have to have a special day with your son, you can just have him as much as possable during the year. I'm sure it does not matter to him whether its fathers day or any other day, he will be pleased to spend time with you any time.

Why send Satan down to earth in 1914 - didn't we have enough problems?
by Xanthippe ini was just reading an old watchtower quote on another thread, he was quoting it straight from jw.org by the way, and i was astonished to be reminded of this teaching.
why would a loving god crown his son king and then send satan and hordes of demons to our planet?.
we live in a huge universe, why send these monsters here?

I seem to remember the society saying something like, Satan started world war 1 so nobody on earth would realize the Kingdom had been born in heaven at that time lol

1914 gone??
by Crazyguy innow that russell is no longer important do you think this is designed so they can drop 1914??
?.
-
alanv
There is no question in my mind that they will carry on ditching 1914. Thy have ditched Russell very easily, and that was a pretty big step, yet the sheep just accepted it. As has been pointed out they have been talking about it less and less over the past years. JWs will accept whatever they are told provided the gov body state it as fact (which they always do)
