I really owe her a debt of gratitude because it was at her baptismal talk that my first strong doubt that it was the Truth finally penetrated my foggy brain, as I sat and repeated the baptismal questions to myself at the assembly when she was being baptized I realized they were not the same ones I answered in 1974, that started me on my journey out of the org. Thank Goodness!

What told you that no holy spirit was moving the BOE?
by Crumpet ini've read on and off here of various things that told people that god's spirit was not directing the organisation.. personally for me on the last time i got dfed it was the fact that i got reinstated by a meeting of the boe at the exact same moment i was smoking my first cigarettes in 7 months.
i didnt question it exactly but it did seem odd.
i mean i had no idea that they were discussing my reinstatement at that moment that i succumbed and had decided in my favour.

I was only in one congregation the whole time I was a JW (26 years) it was one of those congregations where 90% of the members are related by blood or marriage and there was a lot of things told to the elders that immediately became gossip spread by the elders wives...I was the recipient of such gossip when I insisted my husband and I talk to the elders about something he had done, he was put on private reproof for it but by the next week what he had was done was the talk of the kingdom hall, when he demanded to know how that happened he was told that a "sister" who reads lips read my lips telling some other "sisters" about it at the front of the hall, She couldn't identify these "sisters" however because all she could see was me and the back of a "Black Sister's head" but she knew there were several "sisters" there! I would never have told anyone what he did and he knew I wouldn't...I was furious and let them know that I knew one of the elders we talked to told gossipmonger wife and she spread it around...that convinced me once and for all God's spirit was not directing anything about that cult!

Husbands cousin found dead in Sherman TX
by megsmomma inshe was only 24, and found dead yesterday.
there has been bad flooding there(people missing and others found dead).....so that may have been a factor, but they are doing an autopsy on her....does that mean there might have been foul play?
she had a troubled life, so we wouldn't rule out someone hurting her.

Not in so many words are they saying the governing body is now " the Christ "but it sounds to me like they are equating following the Christ with following the anointed and we know that means the governing body since the rest of the anointed have no say so in anything.

by Grammy inmy 45 year old son committed suicide in may, he was living in texas, i live in mississippi, he was raised here and had many family members and friends here so on june 4, i had his obituary run in our local paper...on june 6, i got a letter in the mail from a town 12 miles away, thinking it was from someone who knew him i opened it to find that it was from a jw who i do not know and it contained a typed note along with that damn when someone you love dies tract in it!
i was furious at the person who sent it until i thought about how brainwashed they are and how important it is for them to get their time in even if it's done in such a disgusting manner as reading the obituaries and imposing their screwed up beliefs on people like myself who are in pain and grieving the loss of their first born son!
i tore it to bits and put it in the trash where it belongs.

Thank you to all of you for your comforting words, they are greatly appreciated. I was a brainwashed robot JW for 26 years myself so I know the person probably had good intentions and no doubt thought she was doing me a great service, unfortunately I didn't think of it that way and I'm sure others on the receiving end of such letters and phone calls from them feel the same way I did. I considered it an unwelcome intrusion on my grief and pain and I would have felt the same way even had I never heard of Jehovah's witnesses or if it had come from another religion. Any current active JW's here should tell the higher ups that this is a practice they should abandon! It's a ghoulish and disgusting thing to do and is not at all likely to make someone want to join their cult!! Sandi

Any Diabetics here...
by zeroday ini've been on the pills (actos 45mg metformin 1000mg 2x daily) for a couple of years now.
can't get my a1c below 7. my doctor finally convinced my insurance company to give me byetta.
started it yesterday and i can not believe how low my sugars have fallen.

I was diagnosed with type 2 in February of this year, I was put on 500 mg Metformin once daily for one month now my doctor has me on 500 mg Metformin twice daily, the side effects are just awful but I spent 6 days in my mothers hospice room watching her die from complications to type 1 diabetes and I will do whatever it takes to get it under control. My fasting number this morning was 124, the lowest it's been in all the time I have been testing. Cutting the carbs is hard for be because everything I like to eat is chock full of carbs. Grammy
