why cant you just accept that its the truth!problems occur in the jehovahs witness world when an individual decides to think for him or herself.

personally, i suffered a great deal in the truth because of independent thinkingthinking like satan.. what about youre experiences?as a witness, did you feel doubts or questions come into your mind and if you dared, .

voiced your opinion on the matter, were you disciplined for it?

Sorry, we have to love God with all our MIND too! So sorry, if you don't use your mind and do not THINK, you are disobeying direct order. Also there is direct order - "Test everything(!!!!) and keep wat's good". Again, one more direct order to use your MIND. And these words "Judge for yourself" (1 Cor 11:13) ""Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge." (Acts 4:19) "I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say." (1 Cor 10:15). See Paul encourages us to judge ourselves by the Words of God. Also remember Acts 17:11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily [to find out] whether these things were so. So Paul didn't objected that they themselves are able to read and judge what is written. Also Christ himself when made point asked "What is written, how do you read this?", he allowed even to his enemies to read and interpretate Scripture expecting them to be able to come to senses. But WT does not allow even to their own followers to read intependently like Christ and Paul did. So who do we follow direct orders of Christ and example of Paul, or WT? Judge for yourself!

you should live your life and try to make the world a better place for your being in it, whether or not you believe in god.

if there is no god, you have lost nothing and will be remembered fondly by those you left behind.

Error in case of "if there is God". Because the claim only accepts such God who judges according to authors version of justice, not on God's own terms. So actually "if there is God" is not the case in this case, as it does not allow God who rules over you, but only God who is ruled by you! Nothing new under the Sun!

"Trinitarians" how can you "lie" to the truth? Is truth a person?

i was talking to this jw's elder who i believe has to be the best debater against the "trinity" doctrine that jw's have he brought up several point which i feel needs to be addressed by trinitarians.

first of all he argured that acts 5:3-4 about lying to the holy spirit in no way makes the holy spirit a person any more that "lying to the truth" in james makes "truth" a person.

i have never seen that verse before about lying to the truth.

Read Job 10:10 In other words I see that your elder friend has some "Person" definition which he is only aware off and then tries to do something. Actually if something is person should be decided by context, not by grammer. Grammer does not tells it. Very clear idioms as "sin against heaven" can't be deconstructed into words, as idiom by definition consists of different words which by themselves does not carry the meaning in the idiom. So "sin against Heaven" exactly means - to Sin against God! Against laws which comes from heaven. I can sin against my brother, and still it does not makes him God.

jesus said, "i am the way, the truth, and the life.

" he didn't say he had the way, or that he had the truth, or that he had the life.. according to the bible, jesus is the truth; if you know the truth, the truth will set you free.. jehovah's witnesses set their dogma and religion in the place of jesus.

they refer to their dogma and religion by a role that jesus said he would personally fulfill; they call it "the truth.".

I would add more - "You can't go through somebody without going TO this somebody". You can't get THROUGH Jesus Christ without going TO Jesus Christ. But Jesus Christ told - come to me, be in me, rest in me. Christ is our rest. Christ is freedom in its real meaning. I don't know any JW who would say that he is free, he is saved or he is IN Christ. And no... you have to have Christ to have Truth. Not otherwise around. Not every "truth" is Christ. But Christ IS THE Truth, Salvation, Ressurection, Life, Forgiveness of Sins. And I agree with Honesty, Jesus Christ is my Lord and my God, and I worship Him. As it is sayed, who has Son has Father. Father and Son are One. I have them both by having Jesus Christ. JW don't have neather as they reject Jesus Christ, they think that they Know Jesus Christ, but they never ever talk to him, how can you know somebody without actually having relationship with him?

apparently being liberal does not lead to an economic power house, but it does lead to a lot of hatred of the united states in these countries.

I agree with German. We do not hate USA, we just have points where we disagree and what's important, meny values and points we agree to.

Is the word Jehovah really a name?

i ask this because jesus referred to god as: my lord, my father, my god.

he never used the word jehovah.

to me that if anyone would use the name, certainly jesus would.

In hebrew word "name" means something more then just combination of letters over ones person. Name means your essence, your beeing, your nature. God meny times sayed "My name is whatever" and this "whatever" allways is characteristics of God. So the name YHWH is the very essence of God and you are true - he is one who brings reality into being, in our language it is "Creator". Because creating is what makes a god God. If it does not create reality, it is not God! And by revealing his true name YHWH God proclaimed himself to be the one true God who creates, not some bla bla bla God which can be invented by anyone with good imagination. You can see this name giving and name changin in Scriptrues many times, personal name is changed when inner state, inner nature of man is changed. So it is in our culture that name is only sound, in Hebrew culture the name is more, it is THE NAME. So to call for Name of God is the same as to call for God himself. Name of God is short description of his nature. The same goes with Satan. Name "Diabolos" is opposite to "Symbolos"(everyday symbol), and it means - one who messes up. So in conclusion YHWH is the very name of that supreme source of whole reality - it IS God the Creator revealed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit for us to have chances to comprehand the nature.

i mean how do jw there push "this is wrong translation" argument, as everyone in greece knows greek better then anyone else could.

ofcourse koine is not the same as todays greek but anyway, i can't imagine that jw can push their argument about lousy translation of your native language!
