WT 8-14-11 "God Recommends His Love To Us"
by dontplaceliterature innot trying to steal blondie's thunder here, as i'm sure she will post something today, but..... .
paragraph 3: "and what are individuals called upon to do to qualify for it?".
we've obviously heard this before.

Hey dontplaceliterature,
The WT has always made similar claims in the past about the so-called “anointed” getting all the benefits, whereas the “other sheep” get virtually nothing, yet are required to play by all the rules. At “memorial” talks I’ve attended, some speakers have even mentioned that the Bible was only written to the “anointed,” not to the majority sitting in the audience! And you’re also correct in saying that most JWs will not bat an eye at what is stated, but gulp it right down with the rest of the poison.
Actually, the “ransom” for the “other sheep” is the “organization!” In the “Live Forever” book (as well as in some Public Talk Oulines), it’s described as the “Noah’s Ark” of today, and the only means of salvation for the “other sheep” if they hope to survive Armageddon! If someone wanted to reject the ransom provision of God’s Son and spit in God’s face-I can’t think of anything more despicable than what the WT has published! It’s not just wrong, it’s absolutely discusting! This is one of the main issues that finally woke me up out of the stupor I was in! Will this be you wakeup call too?
Regards,

NEW RUMOR: WT ALLOWS BIRTHDAYS
by J.R.R.Watchtower ini've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.
according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.
is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.
-
cyberguy
Perhaps, like blood “fractions,” they will permit the giving of salutations, well wishes, and birthday cards, maybe even a gift or two. Just don’t have a cake with candles, sing “happy birthday,” and arrange for a big party (unless the person is one of the GB, then you can really party-on and kiss the big toes of the so-called super “anointed” ones).

Oh God! He was the same age as me when he died!!! Anyway, RIP! He was probably a real nice guy. At least he was someone who (evidenlty) saw through the deception of the WT! Thanks for his memorial! Peace!

Watchtower falsification of its history
by jwfacts ini received an email with the following information that is worth sharing.. the 2011 yearbook goes to great lengths to elevate the truthfulness of watchtower information in even minor details, and criticise information from other sources.
so it is telling that the 2010 "jehovah's witnesses - faith in action, part 1" has omitted an important element of their history when re-enacting the 1922 cedar point convention.. under the heading "tracing all things with accuracy" the 2011 yearbook states: .
"jesus said that the faithful slave would be discreet in giving the domestics "their food at the proper time.

Dispelling JW Myths: Faithful and Discreet Slave
by AuldSoul inmatthew 24:45-51 who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time?
happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so.
truly i say to you, he will appoint him over all his belongings.. .

AuldSoul,
As Narkissos correctly brings out, there is only one slave in the illustration, but with two potential outcomes. So does the slave represent a class or individuals? This is a critical point for the WT argument to work. It would mean that the one slave (somehow) represents two classes. (This is how Freddie explains it in the 1000 Year Reign book. After explaining that there is only one slave in the illustration, he then fabricates two slave classes from the one slave! Maybe Freddie thought the slave was skitsofrantic!)
Also, where is it said that the slave becomes the master? In fact, the illustration is about a slave that is declared wicked for having rejected his slave status, and doing things that showed not only disrespect for his master, but by willfully abusing his fellow slaves, he vacated his responsibilies as a care giver (i.e., feeding fellow slaves).
On occasion, I’ve questioned JWs as to how many slaves are mentioned in the illustration and most often they say two. Then I've asked them to carefully read it again while considering other translations too. For some, this has opened the door for more extended conversations.

MY JW DAD HAS CUT US OFF! WE ARE DEAD !
by Hairyhegoat inwell we don't care that he has cut us off!
we have 4 kids, he ain't going to see them before the grim reaper comes lookin for him.
my job skills are well in demand in alberta canada so that's our next move, we are getting out of the uk sinking ship asap, we have family in alberta who will sponsor us so i think it's time to leave and make a new start for our kids, as their aren't no jobs in the uk for them now even with university qualifications behind them.

Hairyhegoat- I’m sorry for you problems with work and especially your family. I’m in a similar boat in that my family will have nothing to do with me, even though I’m not DFd. In fact, that stopped talking to me while I was still an active member, but because I had nothing good to say about the leadership of the JWs (which isn’t Jesus of course), they want nothing to do with me. Anyway, hope your job comes though in Canada! Take care!

jw's idea of 'the good news'
by carla ina poster from another board pointed out this wt quote below, credit to john653.
shouldn't jw's be counted in those who 'oppress' their fellowmen?
they certainly fit the description of oppressing their own people.

Oh yes! God will “solve all mankind’s problems very soon now!” How? By getting rid of “all mankind!”
