Family is shunning us.

mrs smith and i have faded away for many years.

we knew the day will come that we would be questioned directly what our stand is.. this past holidays we were confronted by our jw family.

we told them the truth, we are not jw's anymore and that we go to any church that strikes our fancy.

Agent Smith (and others in a similar position), I know what you are going through, because my brother no longer talks to me. He actually cut off all association while I was still a JW, going to meetings and FS! All I did was make it known (after being prodded for hours) that I did NOT believe that Christ directly appoints the GB, which contradicts the WT of 2001. JW’s always said there would be a coming persecution, but I did not realize that it would come from THEM. When it is family, it especially hurts and so I am sorry for you, I can empathize.

Goodbye to JWD ... hello to JWN !

as i announced some time ago, jwd as it is will not continue .... ... but .... it's clear from people's comments that they do like the site and many would like it or something else like it to continue.. one issue was the forum software that was self-developed and not really in a good state to hand-over to anyone but i've been working on that and can now reveal the first release of what will probably be called jwn (son of jwd):.

it is still work-in-progress so not all features are enabled yet but it will allow you to browse the site in a similar way to this one and it is pointing at the same database (although because of the way the caching works, new posts made on this site won't appear immediately).

when i told my wife that i no longer believe the wt is the truth, she started crying and said that it was easier for her to forgive me if i am unfaithful to her than if i leave the wt.

i am sure now: being a witness is a form of mental illness.

There are WT articles and letters to elders that JWs use to justify leaving their mate. Their ground for separation or divorce is “spiritual endangerment,” but of course, you cannot find this “threat” anywhere in Scriptures. Unfortunately, I have seen elders actually encourage separation or divorce when there is a DFing, regardless of the underlying factors. However, if there is a hint of “apostasy” from the person who has been DFd (of course, merely questioning doctrines and the authority of anyone in the structure constitutes “apostasy” in the JW-system), then the person disenfranchised is going to face some troubled times.

The one area where they do have a point is that the atmosphere at universities can and does involve alot of 'fornication', binge drinking, partying and yes, drugs, although I find in my area, the drugs are used far less than booze.

How is this any different from working at a company? Two women approached me while I was in my early twenties, while working at a large tech company. (This was over 30+ years ago!) They wanted sex. One was simply a jerk, the other, a transsexual.

I don’t see any difference in the work place and college. Please let me add, the JW “congregation.” The characterization that it is a “pedophile paradise” is not far from the truth! There is more perverted sex in the JW congregation than on the outside, at most colleges! (I am speaking from a former “elder’s” perspective.) No, their paranoia is simply crazy and the only reason they hammer on higher education is that those that are educated soon leave the organization, because they learn how to reason things out and can easily see how corrupt it is!
