  During the assembly did you ever notice ... ???

  growing up as a kid in the 70's (and early 80's), did you ever notice at the assembly that there was always someone who had a tape recorder on stage and was taping the whole assembly.

  are these tapes around today, generally i would love to hear some talks that were given before 1975 and see how many brothers said something big was going to happen, because we all know the watchtower never said that !!!

  (yeah right).. any websites that might have a few of these or other interesting topics ???.

  HaHa,, I even taped the meetings too! As a kid of the 70s/80s I was on the bandwagon regarding those big boom boxes that everyone had and carried on the shoulder

  listening to music. I used mine to tape the meetings and assemblies/conventions for an older relative who couldn't always attend.

  I didn't keep any of the tapes, nor did I have a collection as I used the same couple of tapes over and over.

  When I think back, I feel like such a dweeb. I can just see myself carrying my 'boom-box' into the kingdumb hall.

  I caught my JW parents digging in my trash + an intervention

  oh where to start.

  i will start with catching my parents digging in my trash.

  my neighbor called me on the phone and thought i would like to know that 2 people were digging in my trash and asked if she should call the police.

  Wow is right. If I caught any family member, or 'friend' digging through my trash, I'd have them arrested.

  I could see my mom doing that to me. She always searched my room when I was younger. Other than my becoming an adult, nothing has changed with her.

  Was John Lennon's Half-Sister really a JW?

  first off, let me say that i had no idea that lennon had any other siblings.

  it is not something that jumps out at you when reading any of the biographies or history books (kinda like finding out about jesus' brothers and sisters!).

  so when a friend of mine told me that he had a sister named julia, i thought she was having me on.. .

  hello everyone, been browsing the forum for quite a while now(about a year) and decided its time to post.

  i'm male, just turned 36 on the first of april, i've been in a the process of fading for about two years now, not that easy having come from a witness family.

  i've been in doubt about this religion for most of my life, but finally built up the courage to stop going to the meetings, finding out now how big and beautiful this world is and realizing how much i missed out on "real" life!.....i started to fade about the time i was being pushed, yes pushed into becoming a ms. i did not want to have that duty, and i say duty, not "privelege" as they would say because thats what it is, a duty!

  knowing how dubs love suits and ties, i've always wondered what would happen to a dub who turned up at the hall or for field service wearing a custom made suit that while being of a very ordinary cut, was made from, say, paisley pattern material.. any other "what-ifs?what i'd like to see"s?

  yesterday i was trying to find a place to park at the clinic.

  and its not easy.

  so i see a guy get in his car, so i put on my blinker and wait.

  I scream, curse, and flip everyone off. I have had people run up to me(as I head into my destination) just to call me I bitch. I usually tell them that they have me confused with someone who gives a shit. Or, I simply say "Your point?".

  I used to live in wisconsin, so I know you can get away with that ridiculous behavior there. Try that anywhere else and at the very least your tires will be flattened and your car

  will be 'keyed' At the worst you could lose your life from a road rage incident.

  strange no one came this year.

  no elders, pioneers or anyone to invite me to the memorial.

  i didn't go to the last 2 being that i haven't been to the meetings now for a few years.

  Trying to help a JW escape from the WTBTS is like desperatly reaching out to a drowning man. But, instead of him grabbing your hand he turns away frantically into deeper water to get away from you....

  Good point, or worse yet, when you jump in to save the drowning man, that person panics and results in the both of you drowning.

  last summer i went to a wedding of a relative that is a witness.

  we're not disfellowshipped or disassociated, but have been inactive for about ten years.

  because no one mentions our history to others, very few members of our relatives congregations, even know we used to be witnesses.

  Yeah, I've seen that before, where they placed 'out of order' signs on vending machines. I don't recall what their reasoning was, but I'm sure it was quite stupid.
