Counsel for Mormons on when doubts arise. PUT ON BLINDERS!
by PaNiCAtTaCk inmormon quote
should doubt knock at your doorway, just say to those skeptical, disturbing, rebellious thoughts: 'i propose to stay with my faith, with the faith of my people.
i know that happiness and contentment are there, and i forbid you, agnostic, doubting thoughts, to destroy the house of my faith.

At least they're a little bit more honest about the doubting situation.
I have more respect for someone that admits they can't prove something but yet still believe it.
Much better than being told to believe it or I will shun you!!!!

JW urban legends
by Highlander ini remember very few of the details, of when, where and exactly what took place, however a few years ago i was told the story about three elders that were walking together and the middle.
elder was struck and killed by lightning.
the other two elders went to his house to help out his wife and discovered 'apostate' material in their home.

Another of my favorites, and these two examples I know of personally.
This example I'm sure is common since I've heard it twice now from separate people.
It usually goes something like this. A 'self-sacrificing pioneer' tells of the time they had an unexpected bill(maybe a car repair) and they didn't have enough money to pay for their
monthly bills. This unexpected car repair bill usually was about 350 usd and they were just so stressed out,, "how am I going to pay this bill?!!!"
Well, I think you know the next part. This 'self-sacrificing pioneer' unexpectedly received a bonus in that exact amount of their unexpected bill !!!!!
O Jehovah!!!! the pioneer exclaims!!!!
I never believed this BS from the two people I know of that had this type of experience. Personal I always felt the person in question was dillusional and yes, they may have received
a bonus or raise in salary, but never in the identical amount of this unexpected bill. People love to exaggerate and this is no different.

elder was struck and killed by lightning. The other two elders went to his house to help out his wife and discovered 'apostate' material in their home. This very stupid story circulated
amongst midwest congregations and everyone attributed the lightning strike to Jehovah 'taking care of business'. Now, not for a second do I believe any of that story, but I was amazed
at how much faith the local witnesses could put into an urban legend.
Did any of you hear this story or a similiar one?
I do have a second one that I witnessed myself, but am amazed at what the local witnesses felt was the cause.
In the midwest at the district convention,, I witnessed our local elder have a anxiety attack or breakdown about 2 minutes into his 'talk'
He had to leave the stage and the back-up speaker took over. The reality is, this elder had a drinking problem, a depression problem and who knows how many other problems.
After that 'talk' he slowly faded away. Many of my family members to this day believe that this elder was a bad person and that jehovah caused this anxiety attack as a way to
'cleanse the congregation' or 'take care of business' Not for a second do I believe that either,, he merely had an anxiety attack from personal problems.
My question is,, what off the wall, strange JW urban legends have you heard where j-dubs feel that jehovah directly intervened such as my two examples.

Animals didn't sin so why do they kill each other?
by Spectrum inhow does a benevolent and loving god explain away his ecological system whose very persistence relies on the killing and suffering of animals that have fear and pain receptors and know when they are about to get it?
.
can the personilaty attributes religions have given this god be reconciled with his creation?
-

I never did understand the idea that humans can live forever but animals are destined to live and die feeding off of eachother.
How arrogant can we be to think we are better than animals! Other than our intelligence(which doesn't make us better or deserving) we behave like animals on
the most basic levels.

But, thankfully I wouldn't go, so I could save $39 to have just such a t-shirt made. I'll do other things to memorialize my mother.

If you go, I'll pay for the t-shirt. just promise to let me attend to, I'd love to see the reaction!

Anointed "Remnent" projections
by Elsewhere ina person who cannot reveal his/her identity has asked that i post this research regarding how long it is taking for the "remnent" to die before armageddon comes.. ====.
a recent jwd posting (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/110850/1.ashx) got me playing with remnant figures in excel.
the results are obvious, and frankly not surprising.

New Invitations for the "Deliverance at Hand" DC
by dorayakii in.
the front of this new watchtower-sized invitation features a common painting of the jw paradise and the theme of his years distirct convention, "deliverance at hand" emblazened across the front.
it looks like they're trying to work up armageddon fervour again.. .

And why "god" and not "jehovah"? Public perception?
Good point, don't want to scare them away using the name of jehoober. That can wait till later.
