My situation is so much easier than many posters here on this board.
Quite simply I have 100+ relatives that are J-dubs. I see the 'truth' for the lie that it is and want to officially leave with a DA letter. In doing so I would lose all my family and I'm
not willing to accept that at this point. So I live 2000 miles away from my nearest relative, which allows me to live my own life here, while pretending to be a fence sitter or spiritually
weak in the eyes of my family. This allows me to still have them in my life but provide me with a measure of sanity not having to worship the WT in my regular life.
My family thinks I'm somewhat active and this facade that I have is growing quite old. That is my pain. The 'truth' is forcing me to lie.

Little things that mean alot
by beautifulisfree inokay i hate to sound mean but witnesses in my opinion are mean and rude (that once included me) without even realizing it, maybe.
because the little things that non-witnesses do in everyday life for others and their family mean alot to ones they love or complete strangers.. what are some little things you can do know that show someone you care..that you weren't allowed to do before?.
1. saying "bless you" after someone sneezes

On behalf of my dad(who is inactive) I enjoy receiving phone calls from him and he always tells me at the end of conversation that he loves me.
Do any of my other family members(all of which are active J-dubs) ever call me to tell me that they love me? Hell no!
So my point is, as a j-dub I never did see true love being expressed among the dubs, but when you're out, you feel comfortable being able to tell someone you love them.

Saturday morning books study & Field Service combined
by JH ini noticed recently that the book study i used to attend, used to be on a tuesdays or thursdays, but now it's on a saturday morning.. i notice that there are quite a few book studies on saturdays now.
i think that 2 out of the 4 books studies in my congregation are on saturdays.
is this a new way to get people to go out in the field service on saturdays?

I haven't attended on a regular basis since the late 90's, however a few years back I know that the congregation I was raised in, discontinued saturday bookstudy so that they could
focus more on the preaching work. I was told that this was recommended(demanded) by the circuit overseer. I don't think it lasted that long now, cuz I'm quite positive they
have reinstated the saturday bookstudy 'arrangement'

Can you admit that you "used to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses"?
by undercover ini was reading about minimus' trip to the hospital and his telling them that he "used to be a jw" but he would take blood now if needed.. it got me to thinking; i don't like telling people that i used to be a jw.
that's in my past and i prefer to keep it there.
if asked about my upbringing or religious preference, i usually just comment on being brought up in a strict religion but i got over it..and then try to change the subject.

When I was a practicing j-dub, I was embarassed to talk about my religion.
Now I enjoy telling people the truth about the 'truth'.

I don't even really have the right to post on this board, let alone post this sort of stuff. I'm not, never have been, etc., nor have I suferred through it. Just an interested outsider, is all. But it says a lot for the folks here that when in a low moment I needed to share something, you were the people I thought of.
Joe,
Though you've never been and never will be a j-dub, I just want you to know that from my perspective, I greatly appreciate a non-jw point of view and opinion. In many ways
it validates my opinion that the outside world is a wonderful place in contrast to an evil to be avoided as the watchtower corp tries to teach the dubs.
Your posts have always been interesting and very enjoyable. Your opinions are valued, so I want you to know that you have every right to post here and it's more helpful to others
than you can possibly imagine.

WT desparate: Aug 15 WT- In Our Next Issue: When A Loved One Leaves Jehovah
by truthseeker inno, i don't have this article yet, it will appear in the sep 1, 2006 wt.
it may even be a wt study article.. in the august 15 watchtower, the box "in our next issue" has three forthcoming articles, and one of them is "when a loved one leaves jehovah".
of interest, it's not when a loved one leaves the society, it's jehovah.. will keep you posted.

One Christian elder recalls the four years during which his wife's daughter cut off association with them. He says: "Often, even the 'good times' were difficult. If I gave my wife
a gift or took her somewhere nice for a weekend, she would break down crying, remembering that her daughter did not share our happiness."
wife's daughter? So this elder's wife had a child out of wedlock or came from a previous failed marriage?
cut off association with them. What a f'ing lie, we all know it's the parents that cut off association with the daughter.

Governing Body member Gerrit Lösch spoke at my District Convention
by under_believer ingerrit losch (it's pronounced kinda like "lirsh") did two things at our dc (portland, or june 30-july 2).
he released the new book about the minor prophets, and he gave the closing talk, the one with the resolution in it.
first of all, losch was not promoted to the governing body because of his speaking ability.

here is a lil nugget about gerrit for you guys. his favorite hobby when he first got to bethel in the mid 90 ,after being named the newest and youngest GB in 40 yrs, was to sun tan on the roof of the 25 hts bldg. They even enclosed a space up there for him so no one can peek in. Let's rent a helicopter and take pictures.

Likewise it took several returns before I realized that the Congregations are only attractive at a great distance
That reminds me of earlier this morning. I'm crossing the street and about a block away I notice a woman in a nice dress and hot body.
I continue walking down the street, drawing every closer to her. At this time I wasn't paying much attention, kinda looking at the ground, walking
and thinking. I look back up, see the woman just a few feet from me and I just about fall on my face. She wasn't even close to being a hot woman!
The dress was nice, but that was about it. I guess it would take great distance or a good pair of beer goggles to make her look good.
Kinda like the j-dub congregations.
