Rock The Vote: my secret is discovered
by under_believer ina while back, i registered to vote.
i even voted in our primary (nonpartisan issues only at this point--i'm still finding my "center.
at the time, my wife asked me if all this voting stuff we were getting all of a sudden was some new thing the state was doing--maybe you just get enrolled to vote when your drivers license renews, or something.

by exwitless insorry if this has already been asked before.

I see that Maximus stopped posting here years ago, however I've seen many reference him in their more recent posts. It seems that Max was involved in the organization as well.
Does anyone know what has become of him?

Moving to where the need is great
by Lady Lee inmany jws sold their homes and moved across country to serve where the need was great.
in the last couple of years i have remembered several people who moved from western canada to quebec where we were told the need was great out west.
some sacrificed their families, friends to go it alone.

The "need is great" everywhere. You visit a congregation and they ask if you are joining. You visit another country and they talk you into moving there--I know because it happened to me in Mexico. Everyone needs help and the congregation members latch onto whatever glimmer of hope wafts their way...
hahaha, I can attest to that as well. My wife attends a filipino congregation here in Long Beach. I attended with her once a few weeks ago. When the local 'brothers' there met me, they made a comment that I should be their future 'elder'. I could only laugh at that comment. I don't even speak their language!!! haha. I have a 'elder' relative that took his family to a small rural town in southern minnesota because of their desperation for witnoids in the local congo. Ultimately, it cost him a lot. His wife left him, his daughter was df'd and has two kids from two fathers. His son just left a failed marriage and is back living in that same small town. This elder relative gave up so much financially that it was quite a hardship on himself and his family. I think his elder responsibilities at the kingdumb hall really did most of the damage to his family. It's really a shame. I really like him and his family. Too bad things worked out this way. My parents did the need is great thing too. They moved to rural wisconsin, just east of the border with Minnesota,,, I believe the congo they went to was in Luck, Wisconsin. They pioneered for years until I came along. We continued to live there till I was about 4 years old then moved back to Minnesota, which is where both my parents are originally from. Dad eventually wised up to this cult and did a very successfull fade. Mom is still a gung-ho j-dub. I think she'll always be one. I know my parents gave up a lot financially,, fortunately they were young enough to recover quite nicely from it. I guess having kids can bring a person back to reality. Well, at least it brought my dad back to reality. -

by blondie in"let each one of you individually so love his wife as he does himself; on the other hand, the wife should have deep respect for her husband.

Q16) Why is the silent treatment damaging to a marriage?
16) Little is accomplished--and damage can result--when a husband or a wife resorts to what has been called the silent treatment. This is not always a matter of punishing one's partner, as it may result from frustration or discouragement. Yet, refusing to talk to each other only heightens tension and does little to solve the problem at hand. As one wife put it, "once we do start talking again, we never discuss the problem."
But don't they demand to give certain people the silent treatment until they decide its okay to talk to them?
Excellent point. Don't use the silent treatment in marriage, unless we say so in regards to shunning a df'd person, even if it's a relative.

surprise, surprise. My wife didn't go out preaching this morning. I guess she felt that sleep was more important than the 'life saving' work she's supposed to be performing.
I'm feeling a little sad for those poor souls that will surely die during jehoober's day of wrath.

why can the big bang now be excepted by dubs
by looseend ingrowing up i was always told, (like most of you) that evolution was crap.
my dads friend was visiting (who is an elder) and was talking to my dad (who is still a dub) about how the universe could have fit in the palm of his hand at one point in time.
this elder was talking about the big bang theory and how god put it in place.

They want to have their cake and eat it too.
I wish I could talk out of both sides of my mouth like the j-dubs can. Maybe I'd be a 'super' salesman earning a 7 figure income.
