This will be the 2nd year I go with my JW wife to her nonJW father's house (remarried to a nonJW) for Thanksgiving. We don't go for the holiday. We go for (1) my wife's love for her nonJW father (give her a lot of credit for that), (2) free and excellent food, and (3) my father-in-law's new wife has three HOT daughters.
Okay, (3) was for me only (and damn that!).

The fact is, JWs have good answers to Bible questions. The trinity, immortal soul, hellfire, and so forth, are very easily knocked down. Why do people grow old and die? What is God's system of justice? What is the ransom and how can a person get everlasting life? Christendom isn't unique in its answers -- JWs are (for the most part). It's exciting to hear the 'good news' in such a manner. And, most religious anti-Witness critics have really no clue what JWs _really_ teach. They have read a couple of anti-Witness books and don't understand the material and so they look like idiots when the Witnesses show up with real arguments.
For the last year or so I've made it a practice to defend Witness beliefs against fundies, and I always win the debate. Every time. That's because at least JWism is founded on some pretty basic principles -- a three-headed god is absurd, when you die you're obviously dead, and what sense is there in creating the Earth and human beings if we're all destined to live in space?
i was looking for the scripture about who will inherit god's kingdom and can't find it because i packed up all my books and stored them.
is there mention of gluttony being one of the things that will keep you out?
proverbs 23:20 says a drunkard and a glutton will come to proverty.. proverbs 28:7 says one having companionship with a flutton humiliates his father.. so if i can't take blood transfusions, be a drunkard, lie with same sex people, etc.

I have worn a suit twice in four years. Once, to go see Paul Stanley (of legendary KISS fame) perform as the Phantom Of The Opera, and once to a Halloween party where I went as a Jehovah's Witness (complete with bookbag and several _Revelation Climax_ copies).
can someone here tell me what the current policy is in jw conventions in terms of inviting the public.
is the public invited only for the special talk on sunday or can they come in at any time?
if a memeber of the public does come into the assembly hall, are they escorted or kept under surveillance the entire time or just a short while?
When I was privileged to serve as an attendant, we were told that if a disturbance was created, we were to form a circle around the troublemaker and escort him out.
I always tried to make sure I was always around a brother at least twice my size.
It was also very difficult to stay awake when you were one of the eight brothers posted right in front of the stage. Especially since all the old folks were seated on ground level so no cute chicks to gaze at.
