I hear that in 2006 they are preparing a release entitled Reasoning With the Sisters, Volume 1. Volumes 2-30 are slated for following months and years to come.
LOL I know that is an old joke but it always busts my gut as it was told me to me in the bathroom by a long time respected JW elder who gave district convention speeches every year.

i've recently shown my wife this forum (she's a df'd jw who does still hold fast to jw views).
she's been really depressed and feels down on herself constantly because she wasn't a better witness and seems to feel she has no hope of a personal relationship with god now that she's df'd.
i was a little upset a moment ago trying to get her out of her depression by pushing my point of view that the wt is full of $hit regarding a great many number of things, the least of which that only 144,000 people are going to heaven/effectively can be saved.
I would suggest that instead of bombarding her with all sorts of scriptures and explanations, you might want to point out that some Christian groups do not believe that anyone goes to heaven (Christadelphians, Church of God Abrahamic Faith).
You might also want point out to her the scripture by the apostle John at 1 John 3:2: "Beloved ones, now we are children of God, but as yet it has not been made manifest what we shall be. We do know that whenever he is made manifest we shall be like him, because we shall see him just as he is."
So even the aged apostle John under inspiration did not know everything. I would suggest to lovingly assure her that she not overly concern herself about the 144,000, who they might be, what she might be, etc. and just try to please God to the best of her ability, as John did.

i am 64, so i really do know the religion of the 40's and 50's.
I guess all I can add to this is that I probably could have played high school sports but I felt it was the wrong thing to do.
I remember, maybe 9 or 10 years ago when I was still a JW the circuit overseer said something from the platform about children going to school activities instead of being at the meeting. He was referring to a family that had their two little girls perform in a dance recital that coincided with a meeting night, and they chose the dance recital. Boy was the father mad at the CO and almost had to be restrained when he had words to say to that CO. (That CO, by the way, was a huge hockey fan and would play ice hockey with the local brothers when we rented out ice rinks for a couple of hours late at night on weekends.)
i only have one that comes to mind.
a sister was visiting our hall from another congregation and was sitting in the back of the hall.
she raised her hand to answer a question, but only had one finger in the air.
Alan Hood was a British circuit overseer and from the platform he suggested to bring him or his wife along to any Bible studies being conducted with worldly people. He said, "Don't be nervous, we always bring a flask, and if we're still afloat halfway through the darn thing you'll be lucky" or words to that effect.

Joel is really one heck of a good guy. I've known him on the internet now for about 8 years. I wish we were friends in person.
MY JW productivity was nil. Our congregation's goal was for each publisher to start one Bible study a year and nobody ever started any. The numbers went from about 80 active pubs down to about 55 by the time I left.

awesome.. today i went to the book store and picked up malachy mccourt's history of ireland which looks to be a promising read.
then today padraig harrington won the honda classic.. aye, irish eyes are gleaming!

because i need to continue doing research on this topic, and it always helps me assimilate things if i write them up or otherwise explain them to others, and because i thought others here might be interested, i've decided to start a series.
in each installment, i'll present one small piece of evidence for evolution.
hopefully, some of the more knowledgeable people here will chime in with related evidence.
Hey SNG... you seem like........ a nice guy. Have your fun trying to prove evolution into your brain and heart. But remember there's a LOT more to life than spending all of yours trying to figure out where it came from. I spent a good four years learning, studying, debating evolution, and now all I care about is being a good person.

Aw, you poor, poor baby got a little snow to contend with. Now try driving to someone's house, finding somewhere to park your van, unloading your equipmet, trampling through their house, and setting up a ladder and climbing on the roof. Six times a day. :P
i recently had a birthday and can't believe i'm 33 now.
my dad is having a birthday soon and he'll be sixty.
