last night my ex boyfriend finally admitted to me that he cheated on me whilst we were going out.

we split up about 7 years ago.

what is irking me most is that i've asked him before if he had and he totally denied it.

I essentially agree with finally-free and sweet tea. I would like to add that while I feel like I could never cheat on my girl, Darwinian baggage sometimes has our genes telling us that to do otherwise when the chemical synapses in our brains start firing cause it just feels so damned good and exciting to be with someone new, and even to be "bad", I have in the past maintained friendships with men who casually cheated on their significant others. Why? Cause I valued their friendship to me. But honestly they are/were calculating, cold-blooded bastards.

I guess all I can say to you is, contemporary morality seems to be swayed towards "if you do have sex with him/her, be protected against disease." I can't argue against that model, but we're hard-wired and then "enlightenedly" programmed by the last few hundred years of "progressive" society for a lot more consequences than that. I think there would always exist an element of distrust, maybe jealousy, between you and he, and I couldn't live with that in a monogamous romantic relationship. Neither could B.B. King or his first wife, it's what killed their marriage.

I know Rasputina pretty well. Those chicks can rock, man. Lots of soul in their playing too, very important to me.

To answer joel's question, I'd have to answer by: the various incarnations of Ron Hawkins. Not Ronnie Hawkins, but Ron Hawkins from Toronto. He started the Lowest of the Low (and has reunited that band for the past couple of years), went solo, but my favorite time was the late '90s when he was Ron Hawkins and the Rusty Nails. Just sheer rock&roll brilliance, like he came out of 1957, and you can dance to it!

Of course my all-time favorite is Jethro Tull, not the Aqualung, Locomotive Breath, Teacher, Living In the Past Tull, but the songs that nobody knows about, or that the band still plays to 6-8,000 people around 200 nights a year. I have seen them 14 times in the last 12 years, driven as far as Detroit from Buffalo to catch them in the grand old Fox Theater downtown. Some of their B-sides and C-sides and D-sides and plumbing even deeper into their recordings is orgasmic to me.

I'm afraid on topic a day and 25 replies a day is not enough for me right now and I might abandon the board, it is too frustrating, I have too much to say on this and other such topics and I can find other avenues to express myself. LT, thanks for posting that for me. :) I've watched you from afar over the last few years and I admire your spirit of justice!

It is true that technically speaking JW christology differs from the traditional one (although you yourself while espousing traditionalist views might fundamentally disagree with say an Eastern Orthodox believer on the essence of God), but it is untrue that JWs write of or think about Jesus as a "mere angel" in servitude to God Jehovah as the rest of the angels are. Jesus occupies a position far above the angels in the writings and the hearts of JWs. He is duplexed with Michael in that he fills the office, role, duty, function, etc. of 'archangel' and is said to "seemingly" characterize Michael, but his nature and essence now post-resurrection is that of Jehovah God himself, which angels are not. The 144,000 are also said to attain this level of godly being. I could come up with hundreds of references in contemporary WT literature to prove what I said about JW feelings about the risen and now established king (via 1914's birth of the kingdom) Christ, and I could come up with some obscure WTs that demonstrate and substantiate my points on christ's nature being far above angelic. I just have enough difficulty typing with my injury.

Nobody can really quite agree, it's all opinion. In the book A Clockwork Orange, the two girls Alex has a sexual romp with are no older than ten. No way could Kubrick get away with somethng like that on film so he turned them into teenagers, but he had to cut 30 seconds of the 5-x's-sped-up orgy scene to even get his movie a rating..... an X rating at that.

And, LT, don't forget, as Greg Stafford had to keep telling Rob Bowman in their debate last May, JWs fully accept Jesus' divinity and godship. He is THEOS. Now exactly what that means takes on a Clintonian "it depends on what your definition of 'is' is" type of thinking. I can see where the WT/Stafford/Malik are coming from in their theology/christology. I'd just feel like it'd be my bound duty to worship Jesus as Lord and God and accept the Trinity.... if I were a Christian, which thank Yahweh I'm not.

Leo, I like how the sentence structure of Ps. 90 is similar to Jesus' words. I wonder if Furuli dealt with that text in his book. Oh well, I sold my copy on ebay.

Like I said elsewhere, the gospels are all a hodge-podge of ideas about who and what this one particular messiah-figure purported to be. Tons of ideas existed from 45 CE to c.450 CE. Eventually through much theological debate with lots of different people who had all sorts of theories it was reconciled that He was Man of Man, and truly God of God. And if I were I Christian, I would feel behooved to support that finalized idea.
