I don't go to church, but right now they're playing God Bless America and I can hear it and it's just cool. I like seeing the parisioners walking in and out when I drive by and seeing them fire up the huge grill on Saturdays for cookouts. Just something I wanted to share this morning.

Our Own Conference
by Valis ini know there are conferences that xjws attend, but since i ran accross joy castro's writings and new book today it got me thinking about the subject.
something non-religious in nature.....well as non religious as xjws can get anyway lol.
i think it would be cool if we could have people like her, kimberly norris, bryan, donald, and so many of the others that have done stuff for us.

I live practically on the Canadian border. Lots of western NY's go across the border to buy Rx drugs. I used to buy pills on internet sites. Yep, they're expensive. What the governments ought to do is help fund projects like the Hedonistic Imperative and so forth. In 200 years popping pills will be considered archaic. Fitting me with wrist splints and just waiting for my nerves to grow back will be considered ignorant. Sawing open my chest and cutting into my heart to save my life as was done 3 years ago will be considered butchery. Figure out how to turn back on the recessive gene that calls for the construction of such things, and figure out brain chemistry to make people genuinely happy and we won't need the crap we have access to now. Unfortunatly the pharmaceutical agencies and their PACs wield too much strength and generate too much revenue for us to do the right thing. Edited to add: I have health insurance and a few months ago was prescribed Cymbalta (terrible drug for me...anyway...), the COPAY was $100.00 a month and no generics exist yet 'cause it's so new.

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF APOSTATES ?????????+
by vitty inwhen you were still in the org, did you ever wonder what the apostates were saying?
the society would just say lies and half truths.i always assumed it was about the trinity, and other religious stuff.
i thought they were exjws who had become born agains !.

I and my friends thought apostates were funny. It was a joke. The last night I spent at the bar with my best friend of 20 years as a JW, I mentioned I was researching the 607 "thing" and he jokingly called me an apostate. He's shunned me for over 8 years now because I in fact became one.

DID YOU KNOW THIS about the BIBLE?
by Terry inthe oldest manuscripts are not considered the most reliable.. there are no "autograph" texts.
none.. there are no "original" manuscripts.. no two manuscripts agree.. the bible as we know it only came together in the form it now holds because certain men decided it should do so.. neither jesus nor his apostles or disciples carried bibles.. the apostle paul didn't carry a bible and none of his letters were in any of the scrolls considered holy scripture at the time he was preaching and forming christian theology as it is now understood to be.. largely, what the bible is today, is the result of certain men with certain agendas who had the authority to make their project happen.
they also had the power to destroy writings which did not agree with their agenda.

Terry, you have it exactly right. I miss ol' Fred. You're a lot like him. :)

God Terry, you missed out on one the greatest people to ever grace these boards, let alone planet Earth. Captain Of My Fate was his name (thus COMF). Those of us (and there were many) who considered him a close friend called him Fred. I sure hope he's doing great these days.

When religious people start referring to themselves in the third person, it's a good sign they're beginning to humble themselves and get their apologies ready. You Know has already done that with me privately.

Just had a great night with friends
by Cygnus inwe worked on music, i tried to play a little guitar even though my hands and fingers barely move, and we had a great time just talking.
i'm a lucky soul no matter how many bad things have happened to me that weren't my fault.
just thought a few posters here needed to know that i'm not involving myself in a giant pity-party.

Thanks, guys. It was good, clean, sober fun and we all enjoy music very much. I'm surprised at how well I am doing emotionally not being able to play my guitar (something I've loved doing since I was eight) and losing my poor precious Marley. I guess I'm tougher than I thought but having the unending support of close friends and family, and of course those of you here who care about me, and most of all caty my special girl and if all goes right, my future wife, well all that is a giant help. Edited to correct a couple of spelling mistakes. Typing as I do is quite difficult.

Edited to add (as also posted on Slippy's board): It's sad to me that all the nice previous posts and chats on my (and others') threads here and elsewhere are so soon forgotten and how some people (me included) can say things either in PM, in public postings, or on the telephone can come so close to ruining what were once such happy relationships. I'm really trying my best, guys. I need everyone to believe me. OK?

Is Terry COMF incognito?
I think what we have today as The Bible is pretty accurate, as far as textual criticism goes. The book itself disproves its authenticity.
