What Decisions Did You Make Only Because You Were A Witness?

i believe that most jws are deep down inside angry over the fact that they went along with the status quo and the majority just to be accepted.

some witnesses would like to have a tattoo, a mustache, a shaved head, a beard, a new red sportscar, etc.

but they don't because they would be viewed as "immature".

I basically gave up on secular education when I was 15, and said the hell with Honors classes and college.

I married soon after turning 20 both because it was the thing to do and I felt guilty for messing around with the girl.

Even though I saw nothing wrong with standing during the playing of the national anthem during sport events, I'd give in to peer pressure and either stand out in a hallway or remain seated with the other JWs.

I threw out 2/3 of my music collection; I still hate myself to this day for doing that.

I felt obligated to go from door to door peddling magazines that told people their religion was wrong and Watchtowerism was the only correct one.

I was basically a stuck-up jerk to anybody who wasn't a Witness, and rather judgmental of those who were.

i find it very weird that in 13 years, not one jw has come knocking on my door.

i don't live in my home town and have had no contact with witnesses ( besides my mom) since i was disfellowshipped in 1992. is it possible that my mom ( still a witness) has alerted the local kingdom hall and had me placed on the " do not call" list?

or maybe i just live in the area of slacker witnesses?

By now, traditional field service has to be such a bore! More and more Witnesses are signing up for art classes, or dance lessons, or other hobbies/activities and likely think "I can give a short witness there when appropriate and count every time I go and even count return visits!"

or did it just sort of evolve that way?.

in other words, do you think russell, rutherford and the governing body purposefully look(ed) for, or make(made) up, biblical evidence to support controlling doctrines?

Russell's Scottish heritage brought him up with a fire-and-brimstone deity, and couldn't believe in a god that would burn souls. His belief in God was restored when he heard of groups that could biblically prove the soul was mortal. He set out to 'put the hose on hell' and got a bit carried away with himself and his writings but was nothing like Judge Rutherford. It was the Judge's writings and books where he purposefully applied satanic wickedness to Prohibition, Big Business, Government, the Clergy, and so forth. Franz was more occupied with the 'stream of time' and loved applying bible prophecy to all sorts of human events, and he HATED human rule, especially the League Of and United Nations. Knorr was a fantastic businessman who grew the Watchtower publishing agency into a vast empire, tricking his way into obtaining investments and property shrewdly and intelligently. As Dan Akroyd, they all truely felt they were on a mission from God. After all, there's nothing more exhilirating than pointing out the shortcomings of others.

Dude, are you that immature that you have to be spoonfed how to conduct yourself on an upcoming Slursday Thursday?

Do your own thing, anything you want. Or do what most of us do - get sloppy drunk, watch bad football, eat way too much and pass out in the living room.

Just to fill you in on my JW family's angle, the whole family got together at Gramma's house for turkey and dad would say a prayer before we ate. Then when I got married my JW wife and I went to her Catholic stepmom and dad's for a huge TGiving spread, and one of the stepmom's kids would say the prayer.

I remember one TGiving, I was maybe 22 or 23, and my parents had just moved to Florida and I wasn't invited anywhere and I felt really lonely. A JW with worldly regrets! Post-JW some six or seven years ago I went downtown for "the biggest drinking night of the year" and never felt older (sans the 1996 Smashing Pumpkins show).

Is it possible that a child molester is NOT a pedophile?

i realize many here have (unfortunately) much more experience with this sort of thing than i do.

any personal insight, or direction to research material, would be appreciated.. there was a letter to all boes about 8-10 years ago, saying that if an appointed elder had any incidents of child abuse in his history, he had to step forward & admit such, so that his status as an elder could be reviewed.

none of the elders in this congregation said anything.. it was later (maybe 5 years ago) discovered that one of the elders had sexually abused his daughters some time in the 80's, before his appointment.

If it isn't legal to participate in sexual conduct with a girl under 18 years of age because that is considered pedophilia and child molestation, shouldn't it also be illegal for girls under 18 to wear makeup, jewelry, and sexually suggestive clothes (like their high school name written on the butt of their shorts)?

I grew up in a JW household, and also had 3 siblings. My dad always led us in a rousing "Happy Birthdate XXXXX". I think more and more JWs are reverting to trying to be good people (somewhat like CT Russell's character development), making the ransom doctrine their main theological concern, and relegating the rules from the 50s through the 80s as outdated and pushing the 35 and under crowd out of the organization, so they're becoming more lenient. Besides, the 35 and under crowd is learning not to take any crap from anybody. So when the DO says from the assembly hall platform 'if you can't do what we did when we were your age, we don't want you', they say OK, adios. Since that approach obviously hasn't worked, older ones take it easier on younger ones and aren't nearly as strict. At least I hope it's starting to work that way.

Why are "straight women" fascinated by other women' breast?

this is a non-religious question but i have always wondered why "so called" straight hetero women are always looking at or talking about another women' breast or breastsize.

you would never hear me or see me looking at or talking about another man's privates so i am curious ladies what gives.

i work with several married straight women and this is all i hear from them.

Well...

Women's breasts are just bags of fat. However, they produce pleasurable feelings, so I'd imagine that women think and compare based on how the sensations and feelings are. Some wimminz can orgasm just from erotic breast-play. I've been made aware that some females go to "rate my boobs" sites for fun. These days it seems boobs get shown off more by choice and styles of clothing. Plus I've never seen greater endowed 15 year old girls in my life. Yet some who are D-cup hide it, like my exwife, who when being sized for her wedding dress was told, "wow you're really busty!"

Personally, I've been a little too up-close-and-personal with a 13 inch male member, and I hate men in porn cause if I want to look at a dick I'll peep at my own.

root, an organization is a group of persons working in concert with each other in order to achieve a goal or purpose.

In 1961, one of God's organizations's tenets was to carry out its scripturally based responsibility before the congregation and Jehovah God himself to put out or expel a knowing and willing receiver of a blood transfusion. That tenet is no longer considered important enough or have enough scriptural backing so as to please God. Why?

Also, are you aware that, as mentioned by many other posters on this thread, a JW can accept a wide variety of blood transfusions as long as the stored blood has been separated into its various parts? That leaves open the possibility for disease to manifest itself when a JW opts for such treatment, thereby rending the Watchtower's words untrue. To wit:
