  i think it is interesting that jesus preaches the gospel message (including that he is the culmination of the law) and yet teaches the following:.

  17 and when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, good master, what shall i do that i may inherit eternal life?

  mark 10:18.

  As Nark said, it's kinda messy. The JW teaching is of Jesus fulfilling the week mentioned in Daniel by dying 3 1/2 years into his ministry (" And he must keep [the] covenant in force for the many for one week; and at the half of the week he will cause sacrifice and gift offering to cease." - Dan. 9:27) and thus JWs assert that the Law stayed in effect until Peter's vision in 36 CE.

  And a voice came to him: "Rise, Peter, slaughter and eat!" 14 But Peter said: "Not at all, Lord, because never have I eaten anything defiled and unclean." 15 And the voice [spoke] again to him, the second time: "You stop calling defiled the things God has cleansed."

  I doubt very much that this is what the author of Daniel was talking about.

  Bullshit. Their kids are now signed on with the wild beast and have become haters of righteousness and lovers of badness according to their religion. What does the Watchtower say about family members who leave the faith? It says they wish they could kill them like Hebrew law stated, but alas the laws of the land prevents them from doing so. Even so, Jehovah will eventually kill them. Sick.

  how do you feel about blood now?

  the thought of taking a blood transfusion still gives me the creeps... but now i know that i'd take one if my life was on the line.

  i'm thinking about giving blood too.

  I'd never give blood because I take heavy duty blood thinners and I bleed profusely. If I gave blood then got in an accident where I was bleeding I'd be in big trouble. That's the only reason though.

  Giving blood or taking blood doesn't creep me out at all. It's just liquid tissue. And safer than ever. In ICU I already "took in blood"... plasma anyway. So it doesn't weird me out one bit.

  the last 5 months of charles taze russell's life was quite hectic, and according to reports in the watch tower magazine, russell's health was declining throughout.

  in september, 1916, russell went on a convention train tour which lasted nearly the entire month.

  this train tour included stops in several southern california locations around the 8th through the 12th.

  have been hearing for a few weeks that i was disfellowshipped a while ago - like 2 or 3 months ago - but no one told me!

  no call telling me about an announcement, no one informing me of a decision and my right to appeal!.

  but, i have it on pretty good sources now that there was a "seeker4 is no longer one of jehovah's witnesses" announcement.. well, it's finally over.

  i know that this may have been treated before but i still need your valuable suggestions.. rev 7:4 says "and i heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of israel", veses 5 to 8 provides additional details that 12,000 were selected from the 12 tribes of israel.

  the book of numbers 1: 20-42 lists the following as the 12 tribes of natural israel: reu ben, sim eon, gad, judah, is sachar, zeb ulun, e phraim, manas seh, benjamin, dan, ash er and naph tali.

  however, rev 7:5-8 did not list the tribes of ephraim and dan but instead listed 10 approved tribes with 2 non approved tribes of levi and joseph.

  heathen, I believe the same eventuality occurs to christians and nonchristians alike -- they die and then rot. I believe the best way to conduct biblical exegesis is to understand who the intended audience was, and what the author used as influences. I don't ascribe any authorship to any god and believe that all the 'prophecies' in the Bible were either written after the fact, or failed.

  would someone who believes in and respects the bible as having been inspired by god like to attempt an explanation of this account regarding lamech?

  why do you think an account such as this is even in the bible to begin with?

  was it a physical wound, or a mental wound?.
