Do you really believe that there was one iota of a possibility that Jehovah would allow the baby Messiah to be killed in that manner? Why did Satan have to manufacture some ambiguous star and hope that somebody would notice it and follow it when there are much more straightforward ways to accomplish the task of murdering an infant? Indeed, isn't it just a goofy story at all, invisible men in the sky playing what amounts to a game of checkers?

one of my interests is the study of people's belief systems (more from an anthropological standpoint).

i've just begun to delve into judaism.

Jesus' mission was more political than spiritual. Judaism in the first century was not about pleasing God or atonement, but about power and prestige.

If you believe the nonsense about Jesus' message of 'charity' and the story of the 'suffering Messiah' you might as well believe everything Gary Condit and Bill Clinton has ever said.

wait on jehovah, is an interesting terminology.

it is used basically to stop an action from taking place.

the inference would be that you should leave it in gods hands and in his due time he will maneuver things to address the matter.

I think you'd be better served to keep projecting the idea that you believe in God, rather than to appear to blame Jehovah for not looking after his people in what you consider the appropriate manner and timing. I am not sure of your religious persuasion today, but your post would be read by an average JW and the reacton would be, "Look how he's completely lost faith in Jehovah!"

How could your husband remarry within six months? He must have had a scriptural divorce. Obviously he didn't commit 'adultery', get DFed, and reinstated that fast, did he?

What's everyone doing for Christmas?

i'm in a quandry.. came out of the organisation a few years ago, have spend a couple of chilled out christmasses in front of the fire.

no presents, decorations etc, no problem!

but... my little boy is getting older and my ex-husband (my son's father and also an ex-jw) is concerned that he will miss out, just like we did as kids.. but, i am reluctant to do the whole christmas thing.

First Christmas I had was in 1997. I had no presents to exchange with friends, and didn't even know what to do! I just kind of hung out and observed.

That changed in 1998. I "outclassed" everyone, so they said, with my gifts. Then that label stuck. Our xmas celebrations basically involve me giving the coolest, most expensive gifts (mainly since I have very few people to buy for), and then watching a lot of porn and getting really, REALLY drunk.
