I think it's simple. In the days of Rutherford and F.W. Franz the Witnesses sought to be completely separate from the world. Now, more than ever, they seek to become part of the world (via UN participation, websites, commercials, etc.).

How is it that Jesus' being called theos and JWs believing he is not Jehovah makes them wrong in some way? Just wanted to point out that this particular argument you used seems like a false dichotomy to me, as the word theos basically means a powerful personage of authority and in the LXX humans are also called theos.
And if you were going to terminate the conversation and refuse their pamplets any way, why lie to them about being an ex-JW?

New JW Scam?? Here in Australia...
by TheApostleAK init's good to be back on here.... ok, is anyone aware of this particular scam that seems to be big here in adelaide, south australia.
i've heard a couple of times were jw's have befriended old people (particularly one's that live by themselves) and get them to a) join up or b) become good friends with them.
after being friends for a while the jw's 'suggest', 'coax' etc, to the old timer to put them down (the jw's) on their will.

Yep, I knew a dude about 15 years ago who pulled the same thing. He was a "regular pioneer" who moved in with an old fella to help him out. When the old dude left lo and behold he had left everything to this guy. And the guy didn't touch a thing in the house, in fact it was so bad the house was demolished.

Will, your questions are all answered in the book The Divine Plan of the Ages. Russell does a nice job, if you ask me.

I think I would appreciate the ransom if more appreciation for Judas would have been given. After all, Jesus received immortality and incorruptibility, and Judas went straight to Gehenna. Judas is the one who ought to get the praise, since his act of "betrayal" took the most courage. It's like when Jesus (Willem Defoe) asks Judas (Harvey Keitel) to betray him, Judas asks, ?If you were me, could you betray your master?? Jesus reply was, ?No. That?s why God gave me the easier job . . . to be crucified.?

June 1st watchtower new light from watchtower legal.
by XQsThaiPoes innew policy.. pg17 "young ones, if you live in a land where the laws permits it, do you give god glory by witnessing in school, or do you allow fear of man to hold you back?.
begs the question since public preaching is banned in many places in the east does this mean that there is a whole class of non preaching jws?
pg19 "remember, though, that preaching is just one way in which we bring glory to jehovah.

I don't think this is actually a new policy. Schools are public buildings and if the school or municipality has a policy against preaching or proselytizing, then a Witness would be compelled to recognize it and obey it.

Charles T Russell -a freemason and the connection to the illuminati...
by dolphman inok, i'm not one for conspiracy theories but lately i've uncovered some interesting facts that i think warrant some attention.. first of all, russell was a freemason.
all the early watchtower and books he authored have freemason symbology and art throughout them.
not a big deal i thought, until i read more about freemasons and the so-called "illuminati", a group of 13 families that supposedly control the world.. supposedly these 13 families, such as the duponts, mcdonalds, kennedys, .

Sloppy and incomplete research could persuade someone by means of innuendo and assumption that Russell had ties to Masonry. The facts are however that nobody has been able to come up with any concrete evidence of links between Russell and Freemasonry, and Russell's recorded speeches and writings (including question and answer sessions) have demonstrably shown his lack of knowledge regarding Masonry.
Go to just about any 19th centruy Lutheran church and you'll find "masonic symbols."
