Good stuph. I wish I could teach my cat that "gravity" isn't always a good thing, when he manages to climb up onto the roof of my house.

by rebel8 ini was just remembering i had a part in an assembly part once.
i was a fresh new pioneer (who never, ever made my time, lol) just out of high school.
they gave me a brief part to say i was glad i didn't go to college and how i turned down a good job to pioneer.

In 1994, I was "privileged" to play the part of Peter, a young college student who was persuaded to quit school and get baptized. I had my part memorized in about 10 days. There was a funny rule though: DON'T LET ANYONE ELSE HEAR THE TAPE OF THE DRAMA OR MAKE COPIES. I never did return the tape and I bet I still have it lying around here somewhere.
Pic of me (I'm the one standing) playing Peter at the 1994 District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in Rochester, NY: http://members.aol.com/cygnus97/pics/peter.jpg
Edited to add: It felt kinda cool to walk into the place and walk around in jeans and no tie. 'Course I was only 22 at the time. And, jeez, how could I forget? In 1978 my father and I had a small part. I was six years old. I still have that convention program with my dad's name on it, back when the names were on them. -

Poor Crumpet... it sucks being disabled and alone... I know, I'm doing it. Hope she gets better sooner than later.
Englishman, if I work up the dough, I might try acupuncture myself to try and speed up the healing of my ailments.

It's cool to live near a church
by Cygnus ini don't go to church, but right now they're playing god bless america and i can hear it and it's just cool.
i like seeing the parisioners walking in and out when i drive by and seeing them fire up the huge grill on saturdays for cookouts.
just something i wanted to share this morning.

Well the church I'm speaking of is maybe 1/4 mile away and around the corner on a busy highway. I live on a mostly quiet suburban street, so I don't get any problems. :) And my neighbor cut my grass for me yesterday so I'm pretty much all smiles, this morning anyway. Well, except for this picture I took of myself this morning: http://members.aol.com/cygnus97/pics/me81705.jpg
Edited to add: And yes, I'm shaving half my dome and half my face. I'm out of work, disabled, why not look like a complete weirdo.

Holy Crap! Prescription meds are EXPENSIVE!!!
by Elsewhere inmy dr. had prescribed advair for my asthma.
for a 90 day supply it will cost me $75.
that's not too bad being that it will be $25 per month for me.

Mary, a lot of doctors aren't even aware of the prices. When I told my doc my co-pay for Cymbalta was $100.00 a month, he nearly flipped out. There's so much ignorance out there, and people just don't seem to care that much......... until they get sick and go bankrupt. I'm unfortunately a good example of that. :(

Serial Killing More Common Among White Boys
by Valis inyep that's right if you are a white boy you are most probably a serial killer, because richard ramirez and wayne williams were only flukes.
never you mind anyone on the planet could be a potential serial killer, all we know at this point is most of the ones we have caught are whiteys...see?
i told you so!.

Reminds me of the episode when Beavis and Butthead took a lie detector test and Beavis couldn't get any answer right so they told him to say anything factual and he said "I killed a bunch of people once" and the "correct" light went flashing like crazy and the machine went bing bing bing bing. lol, I can still do a perfect Beavis, Butthead, or Mr. Anderson voice. Used to crack people up. On yahoo in voice I'd do it and people would swear I was playing a recording. Ahh, such talent wasted.

Our Own Conference
by Valis ini know there are conferences that xjws attend, but since i ran accross joy castro's writings and new book today it got me thinking about the subject.
something non-religious in nature.....well as non religious as xjws can get anyway lol.
i think it would be cool if we could have people like her, kimberly norris, bryan, donald, and so many of the others that have done stuff for us.

I live practically on the Canadian border. Lots of western NY's go across the border to buy Rx drugs. I used to buy pills on internet sites. Yep, they're expensive. What the governments ought to do is help fund projects like the Hedonistic Imperative and so forth. In 200 years popping pills will be considered archaic. Fitting me with wrist splints and just waiting for my nerves to grow back will be considered ignorant. Sawing open my chest and cutting into my heart to save my life as was done 3 years ago will be considered butchery. Figure out how to turn back on the recessive gene that calls for the construction of such things, and figure out brain chemistry to make people genuinely happy and we won't need the crap we have access to now. Unfortunatly the pharmaceutical agencies and their PACs wield too much strength and generate too much revenue for us to do the right thing. Edited to add: I have health insurance and a few months ago was prescribed Cymbalta (terrible drug for me...anyway...), the COPAY was $100.00 a month and no generics exist yet 'cause it's so new.

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF APOSTATES ?????????+
by vitty inwhen you were still in the org, did you ever wonder what the apostates were saying?
the society would just say lies and half truths.i always assumed it was about the trinity, and other religious stuff.
i thought they were exjws who had become born agains !.

I and my friends thought apostates were funny. It was a joke. The last night I spent at the bar with my best friend of 20 years as a JW, I mentioned I was researching the 607 "thing" and he jokingly called me an apostate. He's shunned me for over 8 years now because I in fact became one.
