Girl Scouts: they give you cookies for your money. WT: they suck your soul for your money.

I am exhausted emotionally.
by PaintedToeNail ini have been reading ashley judd's 'all things bitter and sweet' autobiography, and it has exhausted me.
she paints a picture of neglect and abuse from early childhood on.
as i sat reading, i realised i was identifying with so much of what she wrote.. why, when having an emotional breakdown as a teenager, major obsessive compulsive disorder, obvious depression symptoms, would you refuse to get medical help for your child?

Even though what I went through does not compare to your story, I can relate with the pain of having missed my childhood to a cruel sick cult. give yourself a big bear hug from me.

I always hated that story as a child. it gave me a lot of anxiety. what if the real mom had not said the right thing and that innocent baby was killed???

What Are "Unfair" Things JWs Made You Do?
by minimus ini was thinking how unnatural it is for most people to knock on stranger's doors and tell them that if they don't respond to what they were trying to get across, that they were going to be killed by god.
.....then there's the obligation to join the theocratic ministry school and go on a platform and give talks---even if you had a phobia!
.....or you're made to feel that you must answer at the meetings even if you're extremely shy.....are there other things that you can think of that made you totally uncomfortable?

being hounded out in service with 100 degrees or more outside. and if I looked dehydrated and miserable I was bringing reproach to Johova. oh I remember going by houses where kids were playing in a swimming pool! another time we were in service, I was about 6, I fell on my shin on a ridge of hard dirt, my mom asked a woman in the street who was watering her plants for some water to clean my profusely bleeding wound, and on we went. I am thankful I did not get tetanus, or osteomyelitis. I still have a huge scar on my leg from that gash. (of course if my dad, who had a little more sense in him had been there I would have had proper wound care and tetanus serum STAT, at the time I had no proper inmunizations in me)
being forced to sit down at the meetings for 12 months waiting for reinstatement that was denied. being forced to sit down at the meetings here in the US for 2 more years waiting for that same reinstatement that was denied by the original body of elders once again, after 4 years of not seeing me. finally it took some heavy duties at Bethel down in my country to remove my file from those grudging elders to a more favorable body for me to get back in, so I could get to see my very elderly parents again. Yeah, I am going to come back after that. thank you for showing me the light, bastards.

The term: To disfellowship in spanish congregations...
by suavojr inin the english congregations they used to announce that brother x has been disfellowshipped.
but in the spanish congregations the announcement was made using the word expulsado (spanish)= expel in english.
when i look up the word disfellowship, this is what i found:.

I don't know if that would be the reason, but "expelled" has a worse emotional connotation than "excommunicated". there is no exact translation for "disfellowhipped" that I am aware of.

BORN-INS! What Were The Most Annoying Quotes Your Parents Would Say?
by OneStepOut93 inregarding worldly people, shows or toys?
etc...what quotes annoyed you the most?.
for me it was "well, you have to remember, they're worldly"... "don't trust anyone who isn't in the truth" "they may be nice but they are not friends of jehovah"... just a few to name.

Love Thy Neighbor? Not my JW neighbors.
by jws ini live next to jw neighbors.
i was a jw 1000 miles away over 20 years ago, never here.
as far as i know, nobody here knows i once was, including the neighbors.. so there wouldn't be any reason for them to shun me.

I don't think this has to do with their religion. It's being an airhead, I think. It's really nice for you to take out their trash, but if it irks you... it's really not your job to do that for them.

What is the most out of line / disturbing experience you have seen from Circuit Overseers?
by Poindexter Lionel Humperdique ini once heard of a circuit overseer blaming a loyal ministerial servant, that served as the accounts servant, of steeling from the contribution boxes, simply because he deposited the congregation funds bi-weekly instead of twice a week.
due to the accusation, the ms was immediately removed without hearing his side of the story.
isn't this rather counter-intuitive and innefficient?

I got another one! this is a very old story, from before I was born, but my family still LOLs about it.
My dad always made my grandma's house available to the COs for their visits after she passed away. It goes without saying, they all loved the privacy of being on their own for a week (where I come from the COs almost always have to stay with whomever is giving them a room, and most often they do not even get a bathroom of their own). well, as it happens, the CO lady got preggers. hehe. and the guy had the gall of complaining to my father that she got pregnant while they were staying at my grandma's cottage!!!
