Offended by this week's watchtower?

it was about marriage.

personally, i think woman should be equals in a relationship, not the man as absolute ruler that listen's to his subject when it pleases him.

it just irritates me that women will never be considered truly equal in jws.

I grew up in a traditional JW home. I can tell you that I would not stand for my father to treat me the way he treated my mother.

Then I married a JW man and it was horrible.

Now I'm engaged to a Baptist.

The Baptist has it right -- he follows the Bible's guidance but its more like he wants to take care of me. And I want to take care of him .. and it works. With the JWs, they are just dominate but don't "love their wives as themselves" and treat her "as a weaker vessel" ..

Its not the Bible -- Its the JWs that have screwed it up.

Trinity?

i am reading the bible for the first time.

i was df'd in 1976 and lived my whole life thinking the jws have the truth and i just could not live up to the standard and was doomed to die at the big a without question.

until i found jwd 31 years later.

That last post was excellent.

That scripture you quoted is too controversal to base your beliefs on it.

There are lots of other scriptures that would lead you to believe in the Trinity though. If I were at home, I could help more but I do not have the memory of a lot of those here to quote a scripture off the top of my head.

I know there is one that says that the Son is "Eternal Father, Mighty God, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah somewhere)

I learned how to be thankful for the life I have today.

I learned what brainwashing means.

I learned not to believe everything I am told.

I learned how to speak publicly and not be afraid of talking to people.

hubby and i got on the topic last night.

he was wondering what i was eating- a frozen jello pudding cup.

i remember getting them at the assemblies, especially the hot summer district assemblies.

i have been inactive for about 3-4 years they want to meet with me(sure took them a long time) i'm not to sure what angle to go with.

There's this idiot co-worker I need to vent about. He says he's a Christian but he's one of those that I don't believe really gets it and certainly doesn't act like a Christian. He doesn't think JWs are that bad. He thinks they are just another Christian denomination.

He said to me today -- "You never know. You might go back. You can't say what you'll do in the future."

To which I say -- "There's no way under the sun that anything could get me to go back." (I've explained to him in the past why I know they are a mind controling life sucking cult.)

"You never know." He says.

Just for the record -- Nothing short of God making an appearance in the heavens and telling me I have to be a JW because that's his channel to earth will I go back. Even then I might just not go back. I think I would prefer taking a dirt nap to serving the god they worship.

Some outrageous counsel I received once ...

i was reading an earlier thread about ridiculous counsel and i just had to share this one with everyone.. you know how sometimes around christmas time merchandisers would package their products in a more "festive" wrapper?

the largest bread company here does that every year.

well one yuletide season (when i was about 7 years old), i was helping myself to a couple slices of bread and my aunt saw me.

I got counseled by an old pioneer because I wore a dress with the split too high up. (it was a long dress with a split)

I told the lady, "Well, I didn't have time to drive home and change so I dropped by my mom's house and borrowed one of her dresses to wear -- so why don't you tell her that the dress's split is too high." ... HAHAHAHA!!
