I liked the book study when I got to comment and stuff. I liked giving talks. I just never cared for field service because I felt like we were wasting time and didn't really try to find interested people. I also hated listening to speakers who had poor speaking ability.

I've been through divorce too and it's really hard. I just coped by doing things I couldn't before. I found positives to being single and had fun with friends. It is still painful but I hope you can find some positives that will help ease the pain. Rejection is just so painful.
And burning brides, your situation was lucky because you didn't have to worry that your husband was going to murder you while working through the divorce. You didn't have to worry about your kids being beaten and thrown off of a bridge. My point is that when we face a difficult situation, it is true that it could always be worse but pointing that out doesn't help our friend here who is in pain. -

OMG!!! I have been crying for the last 2 hours...I just got Pell grant!!!!
by FreedomFrog inpell grant is a federal grant for low income people that wants to go to college but doesn't have that much money to support it.. ok, here's my story.... my ex makes good money...i get divorced but they still use the "last" years tax...meaning, even though i'm not "making" that money anymore "too bad".. i've been in college for 2 1/2 years now, ending my first degree, signing up for my ba.... i was just approved for pell grants and "other" federal assistance for college!!!!!!!!.
i've been after them for 2 years and it's finally arrived.... what does that mean for me????.
my loans won't be 15,000 per degree but rather more like 4,000....i don't have to worry about buying my books anymore.

>>>>>Freedom, don't mean to rain on your parade, but I'm pretty sure Pell grants are only for undergraduate degrees.
I think what that means for you is that you will get the pell as long as you are working on your BA but as soon as you begin your master's, you will have to look for more assistance or back to loan's.
Anyway, I'm soooo proud of you! You have been a real trouper going back to college with kids! You do deserve it! -

Hi all
by SailAway ini have decided to join this forum after quite a long time lurking here (a number of years actually).. i have been out of the truth for a while and recently started to attend some meetings.
but i now think a bit more freely and wonder whether i am doing the right thing.
a cousin of mine regularly posts on here, didgeridoo in fact i have seen him today, speaking to him has made me decide to finally post on here, although i have my reservations whether i am doing the right thing.

Um... Happy Birthday SailAway ...
I have to say that it was never the "lies" or "mistakes" that made me leave the JWs either. I guess I was forgiving. I don't know.
What really hit home with me was Rev 7
9After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
13Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?"
15Therefore,
"they are before the throne of God
and serve him day andnight in his temple; So where is the great crowd? They are IN HIS TEMPLE. The Watchtower itself says that the word there for temple is NAOS (Which means according to them, the inner sanctuary or divine dwelling of God!).
The Watchtower then says that the great crowd is in the "outer courtyard" which they say is earth. But that is NOT where Rev 7:15 says the great crowd is! Rev 7:15 says they are in the inner santuary! If you want me to cite the Watchtower so you can look it up, I can find it for you when I'm at home. Just PM me and I will.
Is Jesus God?(You already found the Colossians)
John 1:1 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.Jesus is worshipped:
Phillippians CH. 2
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. -

Does Someone Have to be Religious to Be a Good Person?
by flipper inthis is something my wife and i were discussing the other day .
in a general view of religious people - most religious people feel it makes them holier, better, or on a higher moral plane claiming to worship god in an organized religion.
in the jehovah's witnesses view - the outside world is evil, and they claim that if you get away from their religion , and " fall away" a person is doomed to go astray, doing various sundry things like murder, adultery, stealing, orgies, because " they claim " that they have fallen " out of " god's favor.

>>>Look at what you have accomplished ! Give yourself credit for those accomplishments !
Matthew 19:17 "There is only One who is good"
I can't claim to be good because only God is good.
2 Cor 3:18 "And all of us have had that veil removed so that we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him and reflect his glory even more. "
It is God who can take credit for my accomplishments, not me.
I'm just a believer through and through I guess .. :) But I'm quite happy about it. I don't have low self esteem/self confidence. I am just aware of my need for a Savior and thankful I have one.
My point was that a non-Christian will claim to be "good" while the Christian should be aware of their sins, very convicted of them, and begging for repentance. -

Cross-Cultural Experiences?
by Babylon the Great Employee in(first, as an american, i must apologize to our international friends for our country ever exporting the watchtower in the first place.
someone should take up the matter with the wto.
seriously, though, i am interested in the differences (if any) in jw's across cultures.

I've been there after Katrina but with just half of my house. I cried and cried and people told me I shouldn't because other people had it worse. It didn't matter because I was hurt and I wanted someone to care about me. I'm just so happy that she has you to care about her. Just in case a little hope helps: FEMA and the Red Cross actually gave me enough money to come out better after the accident. I had a family member that their house burned down and their replacement insurance covered so well that they ended up better after the fire. I hope for her that her story is much like ours.
