by reneeisorym ini always had to pioneer and it sucked... in mississippi it was 100 degrees and very very humid.
it was like a greenhouse.

Everyone is right. I married at 18 to the first non-jw who was interested in me. I loved him very much. Love just wasn't enough. We wanted such different lifestyles and even though we communicated well, we couldn't agree on things.
I want you to be so careful right now! Back in the old days, men and women married young but their parents helped pick out the spouse. Your parent's don't agree with him and it could be for more reasons than just his religion. Please be careful! I don' t know how to say it enough. If you two really love each other, he'll still be there in a few years. I know you've heard this before it really is true. There is so much more to marriage than physical sparks and sex. I know he wants sex but if he loves you, he'll stick around.
I was still a jw until I was 23 though. Being married to someone who is not a jW is soooo hard. But you need to decide what you want to do. Then marry someone who is on the same page as you are. "Love" is not near as important as finding someone who has the same values, goals, and style of living that you want.
Please listen to people who have been in your shoes! It will save you so much heartache!! Please hold off on marriage and work out who you want to be before you settle down.
I have found total happiness and it came from finding a man at the age of 25 and leaving the JWs. And finding a good church.

I am not a mom but I'll talk about myself.
I remember finding some "kool-aide" in the fridge. My mom never made kool-aide because she wanted me to drink juice instead. I thought it must be a special occasion since my friends were there playing and she made it for my friends and didn't tell us. (I was about 7) So I fixed us all a glass My mom comes out to the swing set asking if I had seen her hummingbird nector she just made up. We all had red mustaches ... LOL
Embarrasing story -- She found me trying to massage my back with her vibrator once. I had no idea what it was. Now I think ... "EEEWWWW" (And yes, my mom was a JW)

I always had to pioneer and it sucked... In Mississippi it was 100 degrees and very very humid. It was like a greenhouse. We would get all dressed up and just pour sweat. I remember it became fashionable to get a bottle and fill it full of water and freeze it. We could then hold it to our necks and try to cool off. Most of the pioneers were poor so they wouldn't run the air conditioning. So I always begged to go with the 3 pioneers that would run their air conditioning. I know we looked beautiful knocking on people's doors soaking wet with our make up gone. And we would just pray that someone would invite us in so we could have a long talk with their a/c on. Then those left in the car were left to the miserable heat stuck in a car.
I always hate it when other kids talked about how much fun they had in the summer. They would go to camps and stuff. We didn't get to go to camps... Then now people will talk about how much fun they had as a child durning the summer when they didn't have anything to worry about except where to find worms so they could fish.

What Was Your Social Life Like As A Witness?
by minimus inmy (ex)wife and i asssociated with a few other couples and was considered "popular".
how was your social life?
did you have much of one?

I followed the 2 popular elder's daughters who were really really bad but always seemed to get away with stuff. My parents thought they must be good association since they were elder's kids....
The other two elder's daughters were really good and absolutely no fun at all.. LOL! They talked about how they ate alone at school outside so they wouldn't have worldly association. hahaha
I never really fit in though. .. I fit in much better now that I'm in the "world". NOW I have a social life.

Went to visit the EX
by anewme ini have been dfd and divorced from the ex for six years now.
i have remarried and been living in a idyllic cabin by a year round creek all this time but i might have to move.
so i have been going through all my stuff and discarding what i can to lighten my moving load and reviewing every item, every picture, every little piece of paper.

That really brought small tears to my eyes. I felt like I was in the room with you. You have a gift to write.
I have been divorced and I could just imagine how visiting my ex would be. I wish that would happen to me so I could heal. I know it must feel good in some ways but hurt in others. It reminded me of my visit to my mother after I was DFed and had to return some things. I remember how she had taken all of the pictures of me down and that some things were different. But some things were there that were the same as always.
I just want to hug you! God bless!
