I stay on this board IN SPITE of FarkelDude!
Great forum, by way far mostly great people, and just enough lunacy to keep it unpredictable.

my last attempts at posting were to no avail so i'm just going to test this out first and they edit and post something else.-it worked.. i have been reading a lot of the material on this website and find most of it interesting.
i'm still a witness but have some questions about bible/doctrine that haven't been answered to my satisfaction.
it seems that when i discuss things with people (i.e witness elders) they more or less don't listen to my arguements.
Welcome to you both, kril and Bootsie!
Not having been on this board very long myself, all I can say is, the last 4 months here have very literally CHANGED MY LIFE!!!!!!!!
IN EVERY WAY FOR THE BETTER
I have every good reason to expect that you both will find a similar positive experience.

LOL @ Lone Wolf.
Welcome JLOB (even if you ARE jjrizo )

this audio clip is from our circuit assembly held during the 1990-1991 service year.
brother joseph howard, district overseer, discusses why jehovah's witnesses do not wear beards.. http://www.geocities.com/athens/parthenon/5299/beards.html.
beards equal what?.
Haha...this reminds me of a series of attire protocols that evolved through the 60s and 70s. The ones I remember:
Beards (not)
Mustaches (not)
Sideburns (not)
Sport coats on stage (not)
Colored shirts on stage (not)
Casual shoes on stage (not)
Patterned ties on stage (not)
Unzipped pants on stage (LOL...did that a couple times myself)

what's the scoop with this guy?
he is coming because the congregation is the host for the special assembly day (s.a.d.).
i know he's the gilead instructor.
Sheesh, Karl must be close to 70 by now. He and 2 of his fleshly brothers (Don was one, I forget the name of the other) were in the Service Dept back in 1970.
If my memory serves, at least one of those 3 has since professed to be anointed...but I'm not sure.
At the very least, I would imagine that they are now of the "Nethinim" class.

dear brothers:
as you have admitted, the watch tower bible & tract society did join the united nations as a non government organization in 1992 ending in 2001, and according to the following watch tower this means that by their own actions they disassociated them selves from jehovahs organization which means that we must treat them like disfellowshiped ones.
in other words they are no longer jehovahs witnesses or have any right to that name.
I must here simply state that I absolutely positively utterly ADORE the "ignore" button.
I can see the Yadirf/Friday/etc has been posting a lot of her typical skubalon, and...
I didn't have to read it, and...
I won't see her reply to this post of mine!!!
lulu, a good thread, and a good reminder of the blatant hypocrisy of the WTS.

as a kid growing up with an elder father, from time to time we would have parts on stage at the meeting or assembly.
my dad had a certain talk he must have delivered to a couple dozen different congregations, about families.
during the talk, he would have my sister and i cause a scene during the talk, in which we would ultimately run on stage argueing.
OK, well, this is not EXACTLY an onstage thing, but anyway...
Jan Utting and I were in our late teens, and we tag-teamed on the PA amplifier. Sam Griffin was giving a Distraction talk, and part of his theme was "how to handle disruptions from the audience." He had Jan and I set to interrupt his talk on cue and yell out various epithets from the audience ("cowards", "Commie pinkos" etc).
Absolutely NObody knew about this except us three guys, and when Jan and I started yelling, our folks's jaws...well, you could hear the bounce on the floor!
Embarrassing for them, but NOT for us...we were the toast of the cong that night! LOL

what i mean is, we keep seeing new issues emerge which highlight the hypocrisy, and some cases, the downright evil of the wathctower org, such as their fartarsing around with the blood doctrine, the un ngo scandal, ownership of shares in arms manufacturers, the paedophile cover-ups and associating with other religions in order to band together to secure continued "freedom of religion" from worldly governments.
will this steady flow of emabarrassing info about what they are truly about continue, or will it one day stop?
what is likely to be the final issue?
A possibility, having no small measure of historical precedent:
The final issue may just be what the WTS has said all along, but with other religions in mind...they finally piss off the wrong government, and get smashed.
Only God won't come riding to their rescue.

we've just been watching an absolutely heart wrenching documentary on itv about a little girl with a very rare disease (progeria) which makes her age prematurely at 10 times the normal rate.
she will be like an old woman by the time she is 10.. they have a meet-up where the little kids with the same condition can play and have fun together and seeing their poor little faces looking so happy is a wonder to behold.
i guess it's easy to forget that inside they are still really little kids.
God...or no God...either way:
"taking for granted" is a violation of the human spirit.
