i was raised in the truth, and until the age of 18, very active(although never baptized).
i stopped going to meetings and out in service when i came to terms with being a lesbian.
i just felt like i was wasn't being true.

I went back once (was reinstated in 1981) and stayed in for another 18 years. One of the very biggest mistakes I ever made in my life.
But, as you and others here commented, the "tug" is tremendously powerful, especially for those of us who were raised in the troof, and for whom almost all of our family and friends were dubs.
I wouldn't trade the freedom and happiness I now have for all the treasure on earth!

the latest round of "new light" in the recent km has reversed the rules and once again my family has been told to shun me.
i da'd in my early 20's after being very active since childhood and have been out of the "borg" now for nearly 18 years.. i look forward to reading and posting as i get more familiar with the names here.. rgw.

I just came to this forum about 3 months ago, not knowing what to expect. I can't describe how incredibly healing it has been for me, to be able to talk with others who have gone through so many of the same experiences, to express my thoughts without fear of being judged, to share my emotions and find sincere and thoughtful accommodation.

i finally got my head out of my ass, got some things done, and most importantly i am no longer suffering withdrawal from the vicodin that i took for 3 months before and after my surgery.
golly, that stuff is not good for you.
causes depression, crying jags, bad tempers, etc.

how do you go from being a jw to being a whatever (methodist, lutheran, etc.
) i've been invited to go to many churches with friends, but, i have no desire to ever set foot in any church.

That's where I see myself...my faith is my own affair, I'll share my thoughts with anyone who cares to have a conversation, but I will NOT NOT NOT EVER AGAIN get involved with an organized religion. Oh, perhaps now and then, out of curiosity, I might go to a church, maybe even back to a Kingdom Hall. But never as a member of the vortex, not going to let myself be sucked into that whirlpool, boxed in, closed down.
Nope...not for me.

in a word, lawyers, and they will be the lawyers that the wtb&s has trained to staff the worldwide legal department is in the last few years.. what happens when any other business gets cash and asset heavy?
in a nutshell, the lawyers figure out a legal way to sell the assets and line the pockets of themselves and the ceo's and other high ranking corporate officers.
the watchtower is just another corporation.. back in the 40's, hayden covington was the heroic defender of wtiness freedom in the states.

I've worked for several lawyers over the years, and they all "joked" with me that there is no one they distrusted more than another lawyer. LOL It takes a shark to recognize a shark, eh? And sharks always go where the blood is.

recently, i have had a few occasions when it's been neccessary - no, essential - that i say sorry to someone for something that i have said or done, in order that someone's hurt feelings are healed.. it doesn't make me feel demeaned at all when i say sorry, i don't feel any less of a person because i have apologised, although i am aware that some people find it almost impossible to apologise.. what do you think?
is it a sign of weakness to apologise?
is apologising a desirable thing?
S.I. Hayakawa says: "Whereas an excuse is a means of avoiding or mitigating the responsibility for one's actions, an apology is the contrite recognition of that responsibility."
Seems to me, most people would equate "taking responsibility for one's actions" with maturity and character.
With that in mind...the only person who never has reason to apologize is someone who's not doing anything anyway.
