i always thought it was ironic how often they preached against this sort of thing from the platform, then were out in the parking lot trying to sell it to you.
tons of elders defrauding folks this way..

Around here, there were two congregations that had a "rep" for money: Lake Oswego, and then Tigard. It was almost a given that if you attended the LO cong, then you had, or had access to, money. Tigard was sort of a yuppie thing: lots of young guys, vying to make the bucks, and wanting to get shoulder-to-shoulder with LO. Both got caught up in the MLM thing(s), with disappointing results.

The JW Cult and culture is evil, it breeds evil, it foments evil, it cannot help (due to its nature) but produce a lot of evil, period.
I must take exception.
Certainly there is, and always will be, a sector of the JWs (and any other religion, for that matter), that "eats its young" (a phrase I first heard, btw, when I was working at a billion-dollar construction company).
However, in my own admittedly limited experience, that aspect was fairly uncommon at the KH.

The Gift of Speaking in Tongues?
by Maddie inwith the increase in evangelical churches there seems to be a lot more emphasis on the practise of "speaking in tongues".
i quite like the way these churches conduct services, with live music and great singing.
it is so different to the kh meetings and like fresh air.

Finally got Medication for Depression/bipolar
by KW13 inthey've finally given me medication - i am on a low dosage now, usually its 20mg but i am 10mg to see how it goes and then step it up in a week if i feel i need more, but sometimes it can take a month before your body tells you whats happening anyway.. whoo.. had my first tablet this morning, didnt feel brilliant but at least i know i'm not rolling on the floor and stuff lol..

KW, nomb, but is it Lithium? I ask only because a fellow I grew up with had bipolar, and went through up and down cycles, primarily because he'd feel normal for awhile and stop taking the Lithium. As far as I know, it was a relatively simple supplemental treatment to compensate for an endemic/genetic deficiency, with no overt side affects (anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong).
oompa, how are you doing? Not to press you on this, but are you taking the necessary steps to deal with your own challenges?
edit to add: KW, our posts crossed. Is the med you're taking related to Lithium?

i havent read the entire bible yet, but working my way through it when i found this scripture.
the chapter describes how jacob / israel gathers all 12 of his sons and then in turn commands and blesses each one.. but vs 4 has me scratching my head.

the kingdom ministry for february 2008 states that in germany there are 36,000 foreign publishers in 531 congregations und 272 groups.
