What is paradise without my honey?
Hell.
i have been a jw all of my life and i have never heard anyone say anything about not having sex in the ns.
did the wtbs ever actually say that?
or is a bit of wittness folklore?
What is paradise without my honey?
Hell.
the reason for this post is based on a conversation i had a few months ago with an elder and a very stubborn publisher.
we where out in service and these two guys started talking about how in the new system everything of the past will be forgotten, "the former thigns will not be called to mind", you know how it goes.
anyway i cound't take it anymore.
I had a conversation about memory in the "new system" with my JW mother in law. I asked her how my situation would likely play out. I am married now with one child from my current (and hopefully permanent) marriage to her son. I also have two children from a previous marriage. So, if I was resurrected (who knows, maybe God will have a sense of humor), as well as all my children and my present husband, wouldn't I wonder where my other two children came from? (Assuming my ex-husband is not resurrected (remade)). Suppose my current husband dies, and I then remarry and have more children. If we are all three resurrected (the adults) would I remember my husband whom I love dearly? What of my committment to my new husband? Would I forget I was married altogether? If so, will I forget that I have children?
All I got in response was a lot of "maybes". Maybe this, maybe that.
I'm sorry, but "maybe" just doesn't cut it.
why is satan supposed to be so bad?
he gets the blame, sure, but what does he explicitly do?
that god had?
In any case, god said if and when they ate from the tree they would die. But they lived another 900or so years. So who lied? Not satan... |
Well, that depends on the way you look at it…
Could it be that when God created Adam and Eve he intended for them to live forever? If you look at it that way, then God did not lie, since Adam and Eve did die. Not right away, but eventually they did.
i'd like to know if there's any bible quote supporting the jw practice of judging people now.
i've read a lot of 'judge not lest ye be judged' stuff, and i thought that the one doing the judgment was god, on judgment day, and in the meantime we're just doing our best.
Seems to me that a "loving" congregation would offer support when a person is "backsliding". What type of loving people would cast out the very people who need support. Not only do they "cast out the evil from among them" they also encourage the families of these individuals to break off all ties. What bond between "church" and members that it overrides the bond between families?
It's NOT NORMAL!
i had a conversation (debate) with my disfellowshipped husband about "the truth" that he tries so hard to protect.
me: hey, babe, can you tell me again why jw do not celebrate birthdays?.
hubby: well, only two are mentioned in the bible, and on both, men were killed.. me: well, herod and pharoah killed men whenever they felt like it right?
Yep, the oral sex part embarrased my husband so bad! But hey, JWs already think anyone not int "the truth" is the of the devil anyway, right? So I can pretty much say anything without fear of looking bad. They'll just blame it on the fact that I'm not "in the truth".
(It's a legitimate question. Truth be told, I think that's the real reason my hubby doesn't wanna be a JW anymore. No more BJs)

Greetings everyone!
I had a conversation (debate) with my disfellowshipped husband about "the truth" that he tries so hard to protect. Here it is:
Me: Hey, babe, can you tell me again why JW do not celebrate birthdays?
Hubby: Well, only two are mentioned in the Bible, and on both, men were killed.
Me: Well, Herod and Pharoah killed men whenever they felt like it right? No matter if it was their birthday or not.
Hubby: But the Bible doesn't say we should celebrate birthdays.
Me: It doesn't say we should drink coffee either, but JWs have no problems with that. What about voting and Christmas? Is there a scripture that says we shouldn't vote or celebrate Christmas?
Hubby: We don't vote, because we don't put our trust in worldly men.
Me: Except the Watchtower Society.
Hubby: That's different.
Me: Okay. Nevermind that tonight. If you feel that JW is the one "true" religion, which I feel is an oxymoron anyway, why are you not taking the proper steps to get reinstated?
Hubby: I don't know. I'll call my dad and ask him to look up the verses for you, though.
Dad-in-Law (telephone conversation with me)
Me: So did you find the scriptures that say we shouldn't celebrate birthdays? I don't want to be doing something that is condemned in the Bible.
DIL: You see, you're moving too fast. Trying to ingest too much food at once. Come over tomorrow and we'll discuss it.
Me: With all due respect, all I want to see is a Scripture saying "Don't celebrate your birthday, don't vote, don't celebrate Christmas, don't perform oral sex on your spouse."
DIL: We'll get to it tomorrow.
"Tomorrow" was yesterday. I haven't seen my DIL yet. I went to his house and he did not come home ALL DAY.
Think I stumped em.
.
can your beliefs about religion make it across our intellectual battleground?.
take this test to find out... i took one direct hit.. .
I am so dead! I took 4 direct hits and bit 1 bullet.
over the years the wts has vacillated on its stance regarding the distinction between rape and mutual consent to fornication.. in years past, the wts has stated that "the primary distinction between rape and consent was whether a woman screamed for help.
" (awake!, 4/22/73, p. 17).. the wts's latest published stance, however, states that while the act of screaming establishes innocence of the victim, screaming in itself is not the sole criteria for determining the victim's innocence before god.
if one is incapable of screaming, it does not matter, since jehovah can read a person's motives:.
Thanks

Hey, FaithfulDoubter, what is a JC?
.
do the wts release statistics for those disfellowshipped from the organisation.. i understood that they published the numbers of newly baptised and those attending the memorial, but what about the other side of the balance sheet?
i'm assuming they don't for pr reasons.
What exactly classifies someone as "inactive"? Just wondering because as I have said before, my husband was disfellowshipped in 2000 (before we met), but most of the people that were raised in the JW religion (his age group) are inactive. I know of five or six for sure. And that's just one congregation in this area. There are about four Kingdom Halls in my area alone.
